Franklin Armory Reformation NYS Legal??

Some are saying this is nys legal because it doesn’t fit any definition of a pistol, riffle, or shotgun because the rifling. Let’s all stay civil here and I’m under no dilutions that it is legal in nys. Just looking for your guys opinions. I’m no legal scholar so no could be wrong.

I see a few issues with it. It’s prohibited under the safe act I’d say, but it does say Rifle, pistol, or shotgun so technically if it doesn’t meet those qualifications can it be regulated under the safe act.

Also the barrel length would indicate to me it needs to be added to a pistol permit.

Just thought I’d toss it out there. Seems to be a fast track to jail in nys, but I’ve been wrong once or twice before.

It was announced prior to shot show, they built it up as some awesome fuck you to the atf and a way to get a "sbr" with out all the paperwork or wait time or it bring a rifle.

When they finally announced how it works (or doesn't is a better way to put it) it has become the biggest bomb/flop in a long fucking time.

Doesn't help that the guy at their booth is an A-1 fuckwad who sounded like they had been kicked in the head by a donkey and zika at the same time

Oh and if you want to shoot standard 300blk (all that they offer it in right now) then you can and you might hit something sometimes a 50 yards when lucky but it will be a key hole... or if you want shit of angle at 100 yards buy their stupid nerf football ammo

It depends on how you look at the law. I'd say it's legal in nys if you go by the various laws and regulations in nys. If you look at the letter of the law it is legal. It would not need to go on a pistol permit according to the definition of pistol and in nys penal code. It doesn't actually fit into anything in nys definition. They made this non rifle non shotgun to fly under the radar of the atf and federal regulations. NYS defines firearms/rifles/shotguns the same as the federal definitions. Because of the wording of those laws and the safe act, following the letter of the law it does not fall under the safe act. You can see in the last post as this where I pasted ny penal code and safe act definitions and can easily see it doesn't meet them.

Now if you wanna be a good boy and forget the laws are restrictive not permissive and give them what they want and follow the 'spirit of the Law' than sure you can view it as illegal.

But really non of it matters because Franklin armory likes to talk about protecting the guys in California and like states, but they don't sell anything to states like us legal or not...
Except the fixed mag they made. So.... what's it matter?

• Questionable accuracy - check.
• High probability of running afoul of NYS law enforcement - check.

Crap if it was a smooth bore you could atleast ram a bullet down a rifle barrel then reseat it in the case and it be like a rifled slug for a shot gun.

The issue I see with this is its not accurate who the fuck buys a inaccurate gun.
If I'm spending 2300 buck on a gun that sumbich better shoot the nutx off a fly at 300yds. (With quality optics of course)


And how many asshole are already putting rifle barrels on it and making it illeagal.
