DONE Free tires

Just putting out a feeler here. I just got a new Toyota Rav 4. Its a front wheel drive, not the AWD so I want to put some more aggressive tires on it that have a better ice and snow rating. It has Firestone Destination LE2 225 65R 17 on it now. They have less than 200 miles on them right now, like brand new, and I hate to just toss them out. I have no room to store them and they would probably dry rot before I got around to ever using them anyway. If anybody can use them and wants to come take them, for free, they're yours. Heres the kicker though. I dont think they would even fit in the back of my Rav 4 so you would have to meet me at Mavis tire in Hudson when I have them swapped, most likely in the next week or 2. If you want them, let me know and we can work out a time that works for both of us to meet.

Nice to offer them up for free, but also keep in mind that you may be able to sell them to Mavis or on Craigslist, or if you're on Facebook you can sell on FB Marketplace. I've been selling a few items on Marketplace lately, seems to work out ok.

My wife put a swing set out front once, marked "free" and the shitbag a few houses down asked if WE would take it apart for them so they can fit it in their car, or help them carry it down the street. They must have thought they were doing us a favor.

I have no use for those tires, but I'm waiting for some considerate asshole to offer to let you deliver those free tires in multiple trips since they won't all fit in your car.

If you want a good recommendation for the new tires, see if your tire shop can get you the Toyo Celsius. They ride great and are excellent in the snow

Why not buy winter tires and just change out each season? That way you have 2 sets that perform as they are designed to and you would not have to buy tires for another 4-5yrs.

That and Mavis sucks I would not recommend dealing with them.

I've dealt with Mavis a lot, never had any issues. Dont have the room to store any extra tires. And I sure dont want to have to change tires twice a year.

I have summer and winter wheels/tires for all of our cars. No mount/dismount every year. Just a quick wheel swap. Keeps the good wheels nice when they never see salt, and snow tires make a huge difference in handling. I paint the winter wheels with truck bedliner spray, holds up to the elements.

I did the same and put it up on Craigslist and some asshole asked me to pull it off the curb and put it in the backyard for him so he could get it after work. I told him I have a bad back and couldn’t do it and he gave me attitude that it wouldn’t be there when he got out of work. Not my problem. It was still there so he came to get it and I told him I couldn’t help him load it so him and his tiny wife came. O felt bad for her so I helped him load it. People do suck and I just throw stuff out most times. My wife used to offer stuff up on Facebook and the same two people would always take the stuff and yes many times it was can you drop it off for me?

So I couldnt just leave the tires at the tire shop, didnt want to deal with them but I took them home. Put an ad on craigslist asking 200 bucks. Craigslist is a fucking waste. The stupid people that respond is incredible. Assholes wanting things for free. One guy accused me of scamming people to make money. Anyways, theres been a crew working on my neighbors house for the last couple months, I told them I was gonna put the tires out front for whoever wants them, one of the guys saved me the trouble of moving them out from the backyard and took them.

I hate selling on Craigslist. I've always made sure anyone I dealt with there could never find me again unless I wanted to be found.
