American Trading Lodge a small FFL run out of a garage behind a home in Broadalbin NY is sadly closing its doors due to an inability to find insurance due to the business run on the property. This was a great place to shop and browse. I'm going to miss it and hope they can reopen at another location. Below is a post from the stores Facebook page explaining the issue. I wonder if the business were a salon would they be having this problem.
"American Trading Lodge will be closing all retail business by the end of May. Before any rumors start to circulate, we are closing because the homeowners policy is being canceled for having a business at the residence. Allstate has known about the business for 4 years, but now has decided due to the political climate to cancel. It seems that almost all of the other insurance companies have the same issues with insuring a home and business on the same property. At this time there is not a cost effective solution to this issue. We are not loosing our license to sell firearms or giving it up, we just stopping business until we find a solution.
I will be contacting customers with guns on consignment over the couple days so they can come retrieve their firearms. Any firearms that have been ordered or are being held waiting for permits will be still be held until they can be picked up. I am asking at this time anyone that is ordering a gun online for transfer to contact me prior to having it shipped.
I have enjoyed the many customers and friends that we have made over the past 4 years. Thank you all for your support and understanding."
