How to Harvest Running Game and Calculate Lead Distance

started thinking about how much lead is actually necessary when trying to hit a moving target. With my research i came across this little tool. as an example. A "animal", say with 2 legs, is running at 10 MPH at 80 degrees relative to perpendicular of your FOV. you have to lead by just over 2 feet at 200 yrds if using an AR. Lot more than i expected honestly.

from all the muzzleloader talk out of you, i'd expect rock and roll to mean something you don't have to hold the gun vertically to load again.

"running at 10 mph". Who runs away at gun fire at only 10 mph? I have to ask, were they already shot a few times in the legs? I'd be sprinting, and if it were flat ground, at double that speed.

10 Mph is about average running speed for a person. 15-20 for an average person is top speed and i don't fully expect someone to be able to belt out a mile at that speed so i went with 10.

I'd imagine I'm going to try running my utmost top speed when getting shot at with a firearm when possible. I'd be booking it like my life literally depended on it. I'm not jogging around the neighborhood for some exercise, I'm trying to avoid getting lethal supersonic lead from exploding my internal organs and stuff, That's just how I view it. Thank you for the alternative scenario, that's good to know.

very true. i was also sort of taking myself into account. I'm not a runner, more of a pick up and throw you type of person.

when your rabbit hunting with the shot gun do you even thing about lead or just snap up and .. eyes on target and booom!!! follow thru .. dead bunny

got a kid or a friend , just have them kick a old basket ball or soccer ball and fire away on it .. practice practice .. you'll get it ..

i love shooting woodchucks on the run with the old moss 22lr .. only got 7 shots so i learned over time shooting hundred of rounds in my teen days
hunting them dang dirt rats .. last one i got few yrs ago .. same gun ... 10 feet from me on full run .. pow pow pow pow ,, front leg shot, back leg shot , 2 in the back LOL .. dead dirt rat ..
