Furst USPSA Match

Some of you may have seen that I shot my first USPSA match on Saturday morning. I’m really, really pissed I waited so long to do this!!

First off, let me say that the gun running the match is my club president and a plaintiff in the case just taken by SCOTUS. I’m proud to be able to say that.

Due to all the rain on Friday we were only able to shoot 4 stages. The area where the fifth would be was flooded.

I really enjoyed the two stages where we moved between boxes. I can’t wait to do more of that next month. I placed 24 out of 34. I’m fine with that, especially considering one group of 10 guys were basically experts.

Next time I plan to get some good video footage.

I shot production class with my Glock 19.

I asked one of the other shooters to record with my phone and he screwed it up royally. I got two decent screen grabs from his crappy videos. His thumb was covering the camera most of the time.

That looks interesting. I do gssf, u just stand there and shoot at targets, still fun at our level. My wife and I have talked about trying a shoot like that.

Yeah. It is hard to get guys to run a good video.

Congradulations. I just say it enough times get out and compete, Its just not for the prices, You dont have to be a spectacular shooter. It teaches you whats wrong with your gear. it makes you brain have to fire all neurons to decide how and when to engage, reload on the run, what to engage.puts tension and stress on you to see how you will re-act. My first shoot I had malfunction I did not seat my magazine properly and it fell out after the first shot and one of the guys I was with was yelling from the back (DONT JUST STAND THERE STUPID DO SOMETHING) from that day on I knew there are no do overs and to do something quickly and move on .you also get to meet some like minded people. its really a no brainer, I am glad you had fun just like Jay above I shoot all of the Glock GSSF matches in our area and could walk you thru a match if you ever wanted to shoot it. I met Jay and his wife at a Glock match last year or the year before . From Statin Island 2 easey matches for you would be Delaware match and T0pton PA match.

I cant think of a better way to spend the day at a gun range

Most of my range is under baffles. Wouldn’t work well.

Lol probably true, but thankfully my lack of spare time will probably save me (for now). My daughter is a competing gymnast at 6 years old so I’ll be lucky to make each of the monthly matches just at my club. I will definitely be doing more in the future though.

I'm already starting to get the itch for my league to start up. There's another local league I might look into attending if it doesn't interfere with syrup season too badly.

I hate to tell you now you've went down this rabbit hole it makes all other shooting seem a little boring.

I tell people what misunderestimated told me. The hardest part is showing up to your first match. Now you have one under your belt, the pressure is off. Don’t worry about placing. I don’t think I would have became a member of gssf without talking to misunderestimated.
