G48 vs g19

So... I'm really tempted to finally give in and buy my first Glock.

I don't own any Glocks as of yet.

I think I've narrowed down my choices to a g48 mos or a g19 mos.

I think the g48 (in NY for us peasants) is just as capable as a g19 seeing as how I can't legally take advantage of the g19s extra 5 rounds so I might as well take advantage of the g48s increased ease of concealing.

I really like the idea of a g48 as it seems to have a full size pistol length barrel so you don't really lose any performance either.

I like the idea of a g19 because if I get into Glocks then I can play with the mag compatability and holster comparability between many of the similar models.

Anyone have any advice or opinions to think about?

Either way I'm 100% going the Mos route I want it to be RDO

I think the only other comparable option to a g48 would be something like a 365xl or 365macro

I personally went the route of buying a sig 365 and a sig 365xl to play with all the options. If I had it to do again I’d just have bought two 365xl’s. My son wants one now so I’ll be buying another one soon so he can have it when he gets his permit. I like the Wilson combat grips and the tungsten weight kit I added to both of them. I also added an extended mag release and now I do t have to move my grip at all to drop the mag.
Right now I am carrying the xl barrel with the 365 grip but I may go back to the 365xl platform stock with the accessories mentioned above. I haven’t yet because I have a few friends I hang out with that have 365’s and we can all swap mags if needed. I carry one mag in my gun, 3 spare mags and then one additional mag of barrier penetration rounds like critical duty. I carry 51 rounds in the end and it’s comfortable enough to do it all day. With a G19 I don’t think you’ll be able to do that because the mags are longer.
Im happy with the sig and I will add a red dot soon enough.

G48 is a slim version of a G19. G48 takes a single stack magazine, therefore it is narrower than a G19. Where the G19 is a double stack and has a wider grip. Mags are not interchangeable. G48 also has a beaver tail incorporated on the frame.
Have you handled either one yet? I suggest going to your LGS and handle both. One may feel better in your hands.
I prefer a 365.

P365 - G19 - G48

P365 is such a versatile gun. I usually carry it IWB with a 12 round mag as my EDC. Then with another 12 round on my left. (Same size as a XL this way.)

I can carry it my pocket with a 10 round flush fit. And, I keep a 15 round in my truck loaded with Buffalo Bore.

With the WC grip and weight kit along with a Talon...I finally found a combination that works well for me.

G19 went to be my bedside gun and the slimline Glocks never felt right in my hand.

I have a 43x for many of the same reasons. In NYS the 10 round single stack made sense to me. But bonus! - if you ever get out of NY, Shield Arms makes a 15 round mag for 43x/48. I've heard good things about them, but it is recommended that you replace the stock mag release. The stock plastic mag release won't last long running steel mags.

I tested some P365's but just shot better with the 43x and the ergos just worked better for me. YMMV.

I do wish I had bought the MOS model, so you're def right going that route.

For any Glock I'd consider adding a Langdon Tactical Stirker Control Device.

Any reason you chose 43x instead of 48? They are essentially identical except barrel length and a 4.1 inch barrel doesn't seem to be that much more difficult for CCW.

Just curious on your thought process. I haven't considered 43x yet

Can't do wrong with Glock. They just work. For your situation here, id say don't overthink it. Handle them both as much as you possibly can, and get whichever one feels better.

Or just get both.

Ironically enough a pps is also my summer carry.

With the CCIA crap I am going to be very cautious this summer to dress around the gun where previously I really didn't put much thought into it now I don't want to end up in one of those situations unexpectedly.

Winter carry is easy, but summer will require a little more thought and planning now.

Had a G19 and a G48. Sold the G19 and went with the G48 as it carried better due to the thinness. At the range however the G19 shot better due to the thicker grip. (Thicker grip means more surface area for recoil force to be distributed against your hand)

eventually got rid of the G48 for a shadow systems CR920 which had same capacity as G48 but had better features and shot just as good but is way more concealable.

To make it super simple the G48 is a thinner single stack version of the G19. Go to the store and handle each. That would be the best way to decide.

Definitely handle the two. Feel of each is night and day. I have two 48’s since they feel perfect in my hands and point very naturally. One is MOS the other not. I also have a 43 so I can turn one of my 48’s into a 43x and turn the 43 into a 43 long slide since the slides are interchangeable on each frame.

I wouldn't write off the Glock 19. If possible, see if you can rent them at the same time. On paper, I thought the Glock 48 seemed perfecr. I have smaller hands, so I thought it would fit me better than the double-stack Glocks. Even though the G48 felt more comfortable to hold, the range told a different story. I shoot the G19 much better than the G48. I was more accurate at longer range, and I printed much better rapid-fire groups. Same story when I compare my .40 cal Walther PPS (a slim, striker-fired single-stack) against my G23 (same as G19, but in .40). My point is that what looks best on paper and feels best might not reflect what you shoot best.

The G19 really isn't any harder to conceal than the G48. I don't find the thickness to be as much of an issue. I find that grip length plays a much bigger role in concealability than anything. The Sig P365 is a different ballgame than both. Even the XL is slimmer than the G48, has a shorter grip and a shorter slide. If you primarily want concealability, the P365 and XL will be even more concealable than either Glock. As for the P365 Macro, even though it's thinner and has a shorter slide, it has an even longer grip than the Glocks.

Length is much easier and more comfortable to conceal than thickness or grip height.....for me at least.
But I usually choose a longer barrel no matter the grip length or thickness.
Sooo, longer barrel and work with it. You can conceal anything with enough will and effort........in my opinion.

Well guys, that settles it. The answer is obvious.

Glock needs to make a G1948. It can be identical dimensions barrel length, grip length but make it a 1.5 stack. In between single stack and double stack.

It will be perfection.
