Trump to announce 25% tarrif on Russian gas. So we can expect gas prices to go up at least a $1 gallon.

I really don't understand why we don't just get our domestic pumps going and use our own oil.

Doesn't matter how anyone spins it, this isn't good for the average persons budget. Many people already couldn't afford a lot of things, so all these price hikes are making it extremely rough on people like me. Gas or medicine? This shit is pissing me off.

Not to mention the cost of a new car will go up about $7,000 making that a non option for many people. Parts costs have been out of control for 5 years and now it will get worse meaning people won't be able to afford repairs and maintenance on current vehicles either. $400 for a headlight us fkn insane.

Trump already laid down his cards and other countries have already called his bluff hence why we have initiated tariffs already and retaliatory ones have been done.
I don’t think Russia will agree to a cease fire unless they are barely holding on by a thread. They don’t seek their gas to us directly so the tariff will have little impact on them. They sell it to others then it comes to us but this will destabilize the oil market and financial markets.

Oil is a global commodity and anything done to it will cause the prices to increase. Oil is a very sensitive market and simply the threat of this will cause oil prices to rise. This will cause prices to increase.
I agree we don’t buy Russian oil directly from Russia so if that’s still the case this threat means little to nothing to Russia. Russian oil comes to us through intermediaries so not sure how this would work with the tariffs. These relationships are kept secret so not sure how this will work.

Agreed. Oil and vehicle tariffs will hurt everyone in the USA. Not a good move. I’m buying a car this week and it’s only a 2-door not a 4-door because I’m afraid the tariffs will kick in soon and cost me a few grand more for the same car. It’s for my son and I don’t need another vehicle for him until June preferably or August when he goes to college but I’m buying one now as a result of this crap so either way it will cost me.
I know plenty think it will be better in the long run but I don’t think companies will change much anytime soon because it takes so long to build factories, training and hire, and reroute shipping/supply lines. They will wait to see what happens with the next administration IMO or if Trump backs off. In the meantime it will hurt us and cause inflation to rise at least for the short term. Long term we will see

So did much of Europe, although the Russian oil still manages to get there through a round about route, usually at higher prices.

Don't know if any Russian oil is reaching the fUSA...I wouldn't be surprised.

Definitely should be drilling, pumping and refining US sourced oil right now at the maximum level.

Both Regular Crude Oil and Brent Crude have been bouncing around the same levels for quite a while. If the oil market is going to buy into the tariffs, should they occur, the results should already be seen in the oil markets, as it was when people were freaking about tariffs effecting gold and silver. Yes, gold and silver are up, but it has little to do with tariffs.

Here are 5-year charts of Regular Crude and Brent as they stood within the last 10 minutes...crude hasn't been this low, ignoring minor froth, since 2021-22.

Prices will normalize because not all cars will be impacted equally. I would suspect with how high car prices are now and how depressed sales are that auto manufacturers would use any advantage they could to sell cars. The most American made cars will hopefully be increased less and start to sell more. Of course we will see how the automakers handle this and they could get greedy and increase all prices equally. I wonder if the left will point out this price gouging or stay silent for political gain.
All I can say is Ford, GM and Dodge vehicles have become so overpriced because of their business practices I bought a BMW X1 instead of any of them. The BMW might be slightly smaller but the base price of traverse is $5,000 more and the difference between the X1 and the Chevy blazer is $1,400. The amount of standard equipment that you get on the X1 vs these two is amazing. What comes standard on the x1 is astronomical. I looked at comparative blazers and they were $5,000-$10,000 more. They are all there own worst enemies.
I’m looking at not even buying a new camper or waiting to buy one to see what a new truck will cost in 5 years. I’m not sure it will be worth me buying one and maybe I’d buy a small lake house or country property instead. I love camping but I’m not sure it will be worth me spending $80,000 on a truck and $35,000 on a camper when I could buy a car that’s much more fun for half the price. Time will tell and large SUV/Trucks are what all the automakers make money on. People are hurting so if they do this they may screw themselves.
As for oil prices rise and fall all the times assuming you were referring specifically to vehicle prices.

I don’t think that’s accurate- insurance was and is still egregious, gas was higher, mortgage rates spiked (bought a home under trump his first term under 3% and under Biden up to 6-7%, and that’s just a few things.

$10 a gallon for gas, $29.99 a pound for burger, $200 for a box of 50 .22LR bullets........... Yep. I can see the draw to a USA like that.

The one thing that hasn't increased much at all is alcohol. I bet if some of that fancy beer went up to $100 for a 24oz can of blueberrycoacoabutterscotch the tune might change.

Not sure where you live but gas prices in my area have been steadily going down in the last week and a half. As of today the cost is .35 cents cheaper than it was two weeks ago.

Depends on what road or town. Most are up about 23 cents to last week. Even the two paces that used to be 15-20 cents below every other place are now right up there. An hour south you might save a dime a gallon, an hour east you might pay a quarter more, depending on the time of day and what way the wind blows.
