Looking to store gas for my vehicles / generator and for whatever around the farm. At least 30gallons. What do you guys recommend for a container. And what stabilizer to run for long term storage. Thanks

If you can find a decent 50 gallon drum would be about the cheapest route. I think harbor freight make a hand pump for cheap. I think TSC sell actual tanks made for that application, but are probably more expensive. You need to consider how you plan on filling them. Most oil delivery companies wont deliver less than 100 gallons maybe 200 I can't remember right now. So if you have a truck and the means to lift heavy stuff i.e. tractor the TSC truck tanks are probably the best option. Stabilizer use any name brand. I have been moving more and more to seafoam products lately.

90 or 91 Octane, Ethanol free, marine grade Sta-Bil, I have 40 gal ( in 5 gal cans) that is at least a year old, and is still in great condition.
I purchased it last year when gas was $2.35/gal. I use it in ALL my small engines. from weed whacker, to lawn mower to Generator. The gas in my Generator is probably 18 months old and it still starts and runs like new.

Tsc has a 15 gal gravity fed tank for 179$
I would say at that point it's not about price but application. 5 gallon cans can be filled & dispensed easier. But storing in bulk is usually cheaper.

5 gal, cans are easier to handle, but they take up space. I built a shelf in the garage specifically for my can ( Plastic )
One of the secrets to stored fuel is restriction to air. make sure your cans are FULL and air tight.

In addition to the above, rotate the stock. Use and replace from your stockpile on a somewhat regular basis to keep it from getting to be several years old.

BTW, if you have two stroke gas laying around ( as I do) and you want to rotate that, when your vehicle gets down to ¾ full, pour 5 gals into your car/truck, your vehicle won't even notice, the two stroke oil gets so diluted it won't hurt anything. I do this all the time. especially if your 2 stoke is 50:1

I have eight 5 gallon cans and a few 1.5 gallon cans. I rotate through the stock. I started keeping this much gas in cans when the kids were in college in case I had to go get one of them.
The 1.5 gal are alcohol free saw and weed-whacker mix.
Most are mil-spec jerry cans that I spray painted red. Some I bought used and changed the gaskets, a few are brand new. I have 2 Grainger safety cans.
I've gotten away from plastic storage.
I keep 10 gallons of alcohol free gas I buy over the mountain in Wurstsboro. It also gives me an excuse to go look through the gun store down the street.
I have paper tags on my cans on which I record date and octane.
I have missed a can or two in the rotation process, and for two years didn't do much yard work because of surgeries and I did not have any problem with stored gas that was not stabilized. I did not just dump old gas into vehicles or mower. I put in a gallon or two when I filled up truck or mower, or mixed in fresh gas into can.
Fill cans on pavement at pump. Tap nozzle on can before using to get rid of residual static electric charge. Static electricity is generated by fuel moving through pump hose.
My new Chevy Colorado came with 2 areas in bed to secure 5 gallon jerry cans. Pulled liner to install large lockable pull out drawers to put rifles/shotguns in when traveling for hunting.

30 gallons? Six gas cans really seems like the simplest solution. Much easier to rotate stock and ensure you're always prepared - you don't have to wait for the drum to be empty, instead you can just fill up a couple of cans.

Six Wavian cans with the donkey dong spout. Use PRI-G in cans, rotate the out monthly. Pour into car, fill up can when you go to gas station to fill car/truck. I initially went with a poly drum, but it’s a pain in the ass to transport. Cans worked much better in out household.

I'm in the process of switching all my fuel storage to the Eagle 5 gallon cans with Seafoam for the stabilizer and I ONLY buy non ethanol fuel.
