They have been talking about this for a while now. NYC just banned all new buildings from using gas and when permits are pulled for upgrades they will need to convert to electric. A few other places have done this as well.

It's interesting the climate folks keep flip flopping on what is clean versus what is not.
I remember that we needed to switch from coal to natural gas and propane... then they found a way to make coal more efficient using catalysts, etc, etc. I really don't think they know.
They should just "recommend it" not mandate it, and of course study it.
