What an asshole. We have a pretty successful raffle every year it brings in some cash and folks get to win some nice firearms. With that said this not only creates a protected class it also is a gov sponsored monopoly

They didn’t even need an exemption. Rifles and shotguns are not firearms.Only firearms aren’t allowed to be raffled. Read the actual law. It says firearms as defined by Penal law 265.

Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 195-d of the general municipal 2 law, as amended by section 13 of part MM of chapter 59 of the laws of 3 2017, is amended to read as follows:
2. With the exception of bell jars, coin boards, seal cards, merchant dice boards and raffles, every winner shall be determined and every prize shall be awarded and delivered within the same calendar day as that upon which the game was played.
No alcoholic beverage or firearm, as defined in section 265.00 of the penal law, shall be offered or given as a prize in any game of chance.
10 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

3. "Firearm" means (a) any pistol or revolver; or (b) a shotgun having one or more barrels less than eighteen inches in length; or (c) a rifle having one or more barrels less than sixteen inches in length;

so raffles of bottles of wine is legal .. LOL . and yes i have seen them raffled off before ..
So firemen can raffle off firearms with exemption? Cool!
More likely the dumbass that introduced the legislation doesn't realize firearms do not include most rifles and shotguns under NY law...
