“I don’t want to get beaten to death, stabbed and burnt alive,” a slight woman with long blond hair and a checked shirt says. “I want a gun to feel equal.”

She is a member of one of the United States’ fastest-growing gun clubs, the jauntily named Pink Pistols.

Two years after the massacre at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, gay, lesbian and transgender Americans are nervous. According to the Human Rights Center (HRC), a US LGBTI advocacy group, 52 gay people were murdered in the US last year because of their sexuality, and 28 transgender people met the same fate.

In increasing numbers, they are fighting back by taking up arms.

It’s brought them into lock step with pro-gun groups that haven’t, historically, been all that welcoming of gay people.

Australian journalist Patrick Abboud traveled to the US to meet some of the new gun-toting gay people, for a report to be broadcast on Australian news show “The Feed” on Tuesday.

That said, I've been quoted as saying every woman that gets involved in shooting sports, and breaking stereotypes, is worth at least 10 men in the fight. When it comes to gays and transgenders, they're worth a lot more.
No matter how many people have been indoctrinated to believe the US is polarized down to thinking they can categorize and box everyone down to two sides essentially warring with each other, this is the kind of thing that proves them wrong.

I knew a guy in the early-mid 2000s who was a member; probably the guy with the single most amazing amount of knowledge on shooting the AKM platform that I've ever met. I don't know if he was gay; I never asked because it was none of my business.

The more people that understand that the right to bear arms is a right and not a privilege the better. The more people who demand their 2A rights the better.
We have more important things to focus on than who prefers to sleep with who.
The "Gays & Guns" special coming up features my friend Jeff Bloovman from Philly. He is an excellent instructor and strong supporter of the Second Amendment. The more diversity we have on "our side" the more supporters we can gather.

It may be her gender, not necessarily her orientation. On the average women do better in shooting sports than men. They are only a small fraction of participants, but at disproportionately higher rate at the top of the shooting sports. Shooting is 90% mental game. Women can focus better on performance, rather than the outcome. They also don't have as much ego to stand in their way. It's much easier to teach a woman how to shoot.

While have no problem with anyone descent having a gun maybe this will make them see were not bad people. I do not like this article or the wording. It basically puts us in a bad light that we’re the ones killing them and they have to arm themselves against us, but then we work together?? Most gun owners are conservative, but I think an increasing number of liberals are getting guns. I think this is good.

One thing I caught in this video I think is good... The one person said something about not wanting their head cut off or being burned alive. Clearly a reference to ISIS. So I think it's good because fundamentalist Islam is totally incompatible with homosexuality and is their biggest threat. The more that those on the left recognize the threat for what it is the better.

Ice always found it interesting that the left preaches tolerance to everyone/thing except of course straight white conservative males. The left continues to pump up Muslims and gays and these 2 groups are quite opposite of each other and one despises the other. Ive always wondered if push came to shove which group the left would support and which they would turn against.


I think the more gays that get into guns the better. It may change their political beliefs and thinking and they may break from the fringe left and gravitate towards libertarians or traditional constitutional conservatism.

The more gays that get into shooting they may even change their opinions of us. Maybe the crap the left has been relentlessly spewing about us all being evil can be disproven to those with open minds, the more on our side the better. Every person that changes their mind is 1 less vote for gun control and one more vote for gun rights.

The more people that take their own personal safety as their responsibility the better. I don't see how it's possible to be bad. It just leads to less victims and more dead bad guys. Win win.

I remember back in the day when my friends and I would go to the local ranges and get the harsh stares from the old timers because we had earrings and tattoos and didn't dress "the norm".
