Ha! They both have their uses. We just supplied Bat Defense who will use those rifles to train guys going overseas. Hopefully, one of our rifles will help a guy save his ass in the field by being familiar with the platform.

I've been unsuccessful in fueling a caliber war so why not a platform war.

but primarily because by design the ARs:

- 223R is inherently more accurate and consistent starting with the service rounds.
- Have wider and larger shanks with more section in most barrels.
- The AR recoil is in line wiht the bore.

The AK:

- Service round was designed to be made of steel, loose fit with low cost manufacturing.
- Barrels are too thin for their caliber specially the section between the tenon and the gas block.
- Carrier is heavy and off center. Not by much but this causes torque forces to flex a lot.

But there are AK47 round in brass like lapua than in a match bolt action are capable of match
score competition in 200 yards score competition.
Not all of the AKs are too bad, specially the AKs in 223R and 308W are more accurate just
because of the calibers.
The Krebs system increased the section of the barrel with custom gas block made it very
nice shooter.
The molot AKs se thicker receivers and for hunting the VEPR has bit more meat on the
shank so they are more consistent than the tipical ak.
The Saiga in 308winchester has beefed up truninon and barrel is very accurate for an
AK. Converted with a nice trigger and guards shoots like the M1A or even better.
At some point I sold my M1A socom and got 4 saigas in 308 and still had money left.
I wish the had the saiga carbine in 308 in 18" or 19" inches.

Don't forget, on most ARs are built in a modern factory w/ cnc equipment and tight tolerances, AKs not so much.
So even if the platforms were theoreticaly equal, the average specimen would not be.

That's great! If a battlefield pickup is all you have, you want rounds out ASAP.

Wish I had $$$$ to get in on the group buy, but it is what is.
