I don’t know all the facts but he seems like a nut job and apparently lied about all sorts of stuff to get elected. I know politicians lie but he supposedly committed fraud doing so. I don’t care enough to investigate it too much but thought some might be interested here to know.
I get your point and yes these things only seem to happen on one side of the aisle so it is a concern.

There is a line that cannot be acceptable to cross - and that is "politically motivated" motions to expel members of Congress. In the case of Santos however - he's beyond a shadow of a doubt a criminal and a pathological liar. 23 pending charges - and in other articles I've read there are plenty more things he's accused of, but the burden of them is not expedient to bring to trial. It's about fucking time that Politicians were held to the level that the rest of us have to maintain. If Santos were working in the private sector, he'd have been terminated a year ago. Instead, he's hung on for nearly a full year, and continued to lie, misrepresent, and defraud the people of the Country. If he were not ejected today, by the time his court dates and appeals were over, he'd have finished his term. Pretty sad that being a piece of shit in civilian life has consequences, but being a piece of shit in Government lets you get away with almost anything, for an indefinite amount of time. And it was a fellow Republican who led the charge to get him kicked out - don't forget that. My opinion only, but if Santos had been a Democrat, he'd still be in office.

I don't like this for one simple reason. He was FUCKING ELECTED, not by congress, but by the people he represents in his state.

Piece of shit or not, it should be up to his constituents to decide if he should be removed, and only through the laws of their state.

I thought the Jewish thing was pretty funny though. He didn't say he was Jewish, he said he was Jew-ish.

I don't know why the republicans did it. The media made this guy a sensation to hang him around the republican's neck. However, they won't get any positive press for getting rid of him.

You would never see the democrats do something like this to one of their own. Strict party unity, just like good communists.

Maybe they shouldn't be able to expel someone. Maybe they should just be able to force an emergency election for their seat.

If the voters send them back, so be it.

But, there *does* need to be a mechanism to remove legislators who are discovered to be crooked before the next election.

Even more so in the Senate with their 6 year terms. Wouldn't want an obvious crook serving for 5 years, just because he managed to hide it till after an election.

Sorry, innocent till proven guilty is still a thing. Using this logic, Trump can't be in office again because he has 81 indictments against him. Agree that he lied about collage attendance and other things on his resume but theft of funds hasn't been proven. I believe Adam Shit told a few lies to Congress and the American people yet he wasn't expelled. Republicans in the house won't be satisfied until in the minority again. Being in the majority brings to much responsibility to get things done right.

This precedent is going to allow scum to try to expel Jordan, Greene, Tenney, Stefanik, Roy, etc, for "being impolite"...all you need is the votes.

This is not reviewable by SCOTUS...house makes it own rules.

I get he is a lying thieving POS but so is every other politician. I also get that the stigma he brings and media hype about his legal issues will hurt Republicans in 2024 but everyone is innocent til proven guilty and as such he should have had his due process before any vote. But since we have open Pandora's box, I can think a a bunch of both democrats and republicans in the House and Senate that need expulsions votes. Get everyone on record. Get the Swamp on record.

Emails sent to House and Senate leaders requesting such a vote and all social media platforms reached calling for explanations on the difference of treatment.

This needs to be explained. But I won't hold my breath. The News cycles is short and by Monday we will all have forgotten lol
