The cajuns had their houses and property taken by the Crown in 1755 and were put on ships from the province of New Brunswick ( next to Maine) and deported to what is now Louisianna.
Where are their reparations?

Is there a precedent to sue a party over the damages caused by their policy? Sounds fun, but what a cluster it would be.

I fully expect the mechanics of actually giving reparations would be virtually if not entirely impossible to implement; who gets what and how much, how black do you need to be, etc. It's just more divisive shit from democrats to garner votes from whichever sort of idiot supports this kind of plan.

Teach a man to fish. Minority groups given special treatment for past injustices do not, in my view, benefit from this treatment whatsoever. Exhibit A: native americans.

This is in response to Trump's improving favorability among african-americans. If the democrats lose their lock on the black vote they know they are in serious trouble. Hence they will go out of their way to pander to this part of the population. Shameful but predictable.

According to the bill, officials would look for posts or searches with threats, mentions of terrorism, profane slurs or biased language used to describe race, color, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. If authorities found anything, the pistol permit would be denied.

Union army dead, amounting to 15 percent of the over two million who served, was broken down as follows:

  • 110,070 killed in action (67,000) or died of wounds (43,000).
  • 199,790 died of disease (75 percent was due to the war, the remainder would have occurred in civilian life anyway)
  • 24,866 died in Confederate prison camps
  • 9,058 killed by accidents or drowning
  • 15,741 other/unknown deaths
  • 359,528 total dead
In addition there were 4,523 deaths in the Navy (2,112 in battle) and 460 in the Marines (148 in battle).

My earliest ancestors in this country were from Lithuania and they weren’t here until around the 1930s. I also had a great great grandparent immigrate around then. My family lineage had nothing to do with slavery, they were peseant farmers in Europe decades after slavery was abolished here. Why should I have to pay reparations? I had nothing to do with slavery

So what about the rampant slavery around the world currently? Ignoring that? If you want to actually do something good about slavery, you might want to address current day problems instead of taking money from people that had nothing to do with slavery and giving it to people that were never slaves.

Nothing new. Members of the Caucus have worked on legislation and held forums on black slavery reparations for many years, in fact decades. Since 1989, Conyers started a big push with bills / forums and he introduced legislation for reparation issues in each new Congress following Reagan. Now that Conyers left in 2017 after sexual harassment allegations, it looks like Lee is picking up his mantle.

With the welfare state that we've created, the US Government is the largest slaveholder in the world. They've manufactured laziness and stupidity, and they steal MY money to give it to the people who have become dependent upon their 'generosity.'

Where are MY fucking reparations?
