Sometimes the red front sight will be harder to see against the cardboard targets. Not sure how good your eyes are but I changed mine to the green fiber optic.

Yea I am probably going to toss the green ones on..
It came with 2 extra rods one red and one green and a red one already installed. And since I'm probably going to be shooting steel first I left it. But it looks super easy to change out

We will see how thy hold up during compition but from reloading drills I have been doing they seem to work well.

So I ordered a 3 pack of either the same mag holders under a different company name or a knock off version or who know but looks the exact same lol. They should be in tomorrow.
Which is good news. So I was bummed to hear that the Empire Steel Shoot out that was scheduled for May 11th was moved to June. But it looks like they replaced it with the Action Handgun match and so I'm going for it and just going to try and have fun..
I was actually pretty set on starting on steel, I sadly haven't been able to get to the range all that much lately and well shooting is a depreciating skill. But I honestly dont care I'm going to go and have as much fun as I can and have a base line for everything else

Great shooting, and sometimes it's good to video your performance, as it lets you see the issues you need to work on.
At least NY'ers aren't left out in the cold with the 10 round magazine restrictions in Production, SS and limited 10.
It's a freaking shame they needed to make a special limited class for freaking Asshole states with magazine restrictions !!!!
Cumholes Magazine restrictions puts a real damper when training for limited and open class.

don't own a pistol with any sort of scope/ red dot, how are they mounted ? drill n tap by a gunsmith ?
Milled them drilled and tapped. Some pistols come from the factory with a propriatary mounting system but most people prefer the first option.
Mostly like @MilesTeg said, there are frame mounts out there as well, and other mounts that dove tail into the rear sight notch.
But a large portion are by having the slide milled for the specific red dot.

Ok so changed the title of the thread since tomorrow isnt going to be a steel match but instead "action handgun"
Going to hopefully shoot 2 divisions, Enhanced Service Pistol, and Open class.
Went to the range today after finally putting my RMR back on my G19 and did a down and dirty quick zero of the dot for 10 yards (another 35 rounds flawless through the Ported G19)
Also had a chance to finally shoot the 17 with the Dawson's Precision F/O sight, and I really liked it, but holy shit do those sights cover up a lot of the target even at 10 yards compared to my RMR RM07 (which is the 6.5moa)
Either way super excited about tomorrow even if I totally bomb the whole thing (on a positive outlook no matter what i will not place last, even if I place last)

Alright. Another countdown to the next match this Saturday.
Changed it up, first match I shot 2 divisions (open and ESP, g19 open cause of the optic and ports, G17 ESP because the grip reduction) but I got my hands on a stripped G17 frame so I can put my 17 back to stock/production. First match I just wanted to shoot as much as I could and have fun and not get DQ'd and I accomplished that.
This time (and foreseeable future) be shooting just the 17 in stock/production division and trying to focus on improving

Good plan. Switching guns and divisions will prolong your advancement.
Yea first one really was "hey this is going to be fun and I want to do as much as I can in one sitting" plus I had the open G19 and it was $5 extra.
Now that I got it under my belt and had a blast I really want to focus in and get better, so picking production division and it really does offer the ability to do a good amount to the gun without having jump into limited just yet (if I get to that point I'd really like to get a worked over CZ TSO in .40)

Really no point in shooting limited in ny. You wull never place against anyone using a big mag. You will not get the practice on mag changes etc etc when using standard mags. Part of it is intuitively changing 17 or 23 round mags. You just dont get that running 10 rounders.

Well shit, another match in the books.
Some gokd stages, one very bad stage, it should have been a DQ but the squad director decided to use it as a warning for me and a learning experience (broke the 180) and I've I was waiting for them to stop me from shooting and once I ran out of ammo (completely fell apart and couldnt hit anything) I turned around and was like yup I broke the 180 I can pack up if you want.
But now to get ready for next month they have a 2 gun match
