Glock 19 & 23 side by side

I was able to have some fun at the range tonight and shot the Glock 19 and 23 back to back. I am not calling this a 19 vs 23 test in any way. I would have liked to use a shot timer app but with the other gunfire in the range it was not possible. I do not own either pistol. They are both Gen 4s, have Trijicon HD sights, stock triggers, and both have the finger groves cut off and undercuts. The only difference other than caliber is the 23 has a stipple job.

I shot one mag with the 19 and then the 23 and repeated. 20 rounds each at 10 yards. I was firing as fast as I could see the sights, would have been nice to have the shot timer times. I did not feel I was any faster with the 9mm and the owner who owns the 2 pistols did not notice any difference either. The recoil of the 40 caliber was more for sure but did not seem to make a difference in my performance. Looking at the targets I think accuracy was a draw. Without actual times and with only 20 rounds each take it for what its worth.

After a target change I decided to do the same with my 5 inch 1911 in 45 acp. It took 3 mags to shoot the 21 rounds and I shot that notably better, it is my pistol. I dont think it would be fair to talk about time since it was not in rotation with the other two. My gut says it was not much different.

I would have liked to have had a 30s to use since it the closest 45 acp to the G23 &19. I dont think I would shoot it as well as my 1911.

That's only because he didnt have a PMR30, which is the most deadly handgun on the planet

A 30 s will not shoot at tight as a 30SF. There is something about the barrel that makes that one more accurate then the others. I can tell you from experience it shoots very well. A 1911 is not even in the same ball park as a $500 glock apples to bananas.

A while back I was able to fire both back to back and I noticed the 30s was much lighter but more felt recoil. I did not shoot them enough to not a difference in accuracy but the guy who owned them said the 30 was his most accurate Glock and that was common.

yea, 1911s flat out shoot!!! Funny how such an old design can still deliver...

1911's are known to have a better trigger over polymer guns.
I get better groups from my 1911's over any of my glocks including my G30.

I have three blocks that don't get shot much, same goes for my colt 1911.
