Say what you want about the Glock in .40. I still love the fact that with my G23, I can convert my pistol to 4 different calibers. 3 with a simple barrel change and 1 with a slide kit.

I mean I can do the same with a g19 just need aither a g23 slide or any one of the aftermarket slides.

Yes its cool and I originally wanted a G35 but then realized I'd drop in a conversion barrel to 9mm and thats how it would stay.

Also most will end up with reliability issues if you don't change the ejector if going from 40/357 to 9mm

I've said it in the past, the main reason this calliber still exists is gun games that require major power factor..

A double stack 1911/2011 in .40sw is going to be able to stuff more ammo in it make major PF and still fit inside of a box than a .45aarp

I use em both the brass for 40 is cheaper and the semi rimless design of the super can cause issues in som magazines. That is why a lot of race gun guys use starline 38 super comp brass.

Oh I'm sure .40 is cheaper, and more readily available. But then again if I was doing a all out race gun I wouldn't be worrying about cheaper easier to get ammo and would be reloading

I have built a lot of race guns and hot rodded the super to the point of case head failure. It has its pros and cons. The 40 makes major without hot rodding it and it is easier on the frame.

Yeah, another reason is I have a 10mm revolver and Shooting 40s In it is like Shooting 38 specials in a 357 mag.revolver.

I had thought about getting the Ruger Blackhawk that has 10mm and 40 cylinders. I just didn't want the hassle of the amendment process. I'm saving future handgun purchases and if I want to sell any for when I get out of here.

IDK, I think if I could do it over again, I'd probably have bought the 19 and a gen3 not a 4. I'm no fan boy of .40, I just found in my research that the G23 was versatile in that you can convert it very easily to other calibers. That was my reasoning for going with it. The only thing I've noticed is that it will eject 9mm brass straight up and at your head sometimes. The .40 mags will feed 9mm no problem.

So from reading the article they are going to make Gen 3 and Gen 5. Strange. I wonder if they will just call Gen 3 the classic line or something like that.

I think the 19/23 is the perfect size handgun for most uses. If I wasn’t limited to 10 rounds I would get a Gen 5 19 but it made more sense to me to get the 23 in that situation. I can say that my Gen 4 G23 has NEVER had a single issue no matter what I’ve fired through it.

It does have almost every law enforcement agency in the country and a lot over seas to fall back on though. I guess the market will decide it. If people buy it they will make it.

Yeah. That’s the only thing keeping it alive now but more and more LE agencies are dropping it every year due to cost, capacity, and better recoil management.

It was adopted due to at the time, 9mm hollow point bullet construction not being able to penetrate adequately after expansion. Now they are pretty similar in the numbers on both with some loads expanding and penetrating within fractions of one another going either way.

It could be said that there isn’t a need for a F-150 AND a Silverado as they can both perform pretty much identical functions, but people will buy what they like and if there are buyers there will always be a market for it. If I’m in business I’m making whatever people want to buy.

Nope. There are more LE agencies than just the FBI. .40 is the overwhelming majority in LE.

I meant the largest Leo department is using 19s and every other department is dropping the .40sw exponentially in the last 4 years but on show me stats that the 22 is the most popular Leo gun
