Does anyone know of a shop that does Glock grip reductions and stippling? I'm in Orange county and am willing to drive up to 3 hrs away. I'm trying not to mail my frame out of state. I kind of want to go there and check out their work.

They are starting to get into it but have someone that does it professionally for them. He is cerakoting my G17 right now. Probably worth giving him a shout to see what you think. I texted him when I saw this thread and asked him and he said he has someone that does it and that I could post his phone #.

Unfortunately, they never returned my call after leaving a message. Does anyone know of any local shops here in NY, PA, or CT?

I'm leery of shipping my frame out to an online company. Most of these places want you to ship out without contacting them. Their email is full, they don't accept phone calls, ect because they do it on the side. Turn around time can be about three months with these companies.

A local place that I can drive to and explain exactly what I want and that I can drive to pick up when done is ideal.

Lol good luck trying to find some local shop that you can explain what you want and they will say yes we will give that a try.

Bite the bullet find a quality company that actually already offers this option. They have already done it they know what they are doing and wont fuck up your frame

What you say is correct. These players that specialize in these grip reductions and stippling services have very crappy websites however. Their email inboxes and voicemails are always full. I'm kind of turned off by that. Reason being that if they lose it, I'll have no way of really proving to the pistol permit office of what happened other than tracking information that doesn't really describe anything. There is no receipt or anyting.

I'd be willing to drive 5 hours if there was a place that specialized in this and then I can directly go there and drop it off and get a receipt.

When I started my search for a custom work guy I too looked for something local. I had little luck what I did find was pretty poor so I went with one of the big names in the business. I can tell you I will 100% use his services again.

I can tell you he answered my out of state number on the third ring the first time I called. I think hes more busy now so that might not still be the case. I know hes also experimenting with staggered send in times so the wait times are short you just have to get in the cue.

Dont forget you do get a recipe in your email along with make a copy of your work order that you have to include in the package.

You will have to overnight air the frame from either FedEx or UPS and I believe UPS requires an adult signature.

Add the insurance so if it does go missing they pay you for it and that will be enough for the PP office and you will get a tracking number.

Other than lead time I dont see why you are hesitant to use one of the big names in frame work

Their website doesn't say they do grip reductions. I have emailed them to ask.

Ya I was poking around I knew they did the groove removals but I couldn't remember about the reduction. If you ever want to watch something fascinating watch his videos. He makes it look so easy you will want to try it on one of your guns. My wife actually watches the videos and wan't to try to do it. Because of this we have kicked around the idea of getting my FFL so she could explore this.

@Willjr75 I've seen work from San Antonio Laser Engraving online and they seem to do great work. They definitely don't meet your requirement to talk F2F with someone about the work you want done but seem responsive through FB Messenger. They will sand off finger grooves but I didn't see anything about grip reduction specifically.

Interesting that they also do training. For $13k you get 5 days of training and the laser setup to do it on your own. If I was retired and looking for something fun to do from home I would jump on this.
