Glocktober 2017 (with poll)

I'm a sucker for gun raffles, and one of these days I'll win one. I first heard about "Glocktober" a few years ago, but at $50/ticket it was a bit rich for me. But now I'm a state worker and got money out the ass (ha yeah right)...

Glocktober - Drive Against Diabetes

A Glock awarded every day, with certain special draws -
Fridays you get a model with a 'tac light' (hopefully not a cheap $20 light)
Saturdays you get a Glock, KelTec KSG Shotgun, Glock Knife and Shovel
Sundays you get a Glock and 'NY-Compliant' AR15
Friday the 13th you get a Glock and trip for 2 to Vegas to shoot automatic weapons
Oct 31st you get a Glock and a Savage .308 Bolt Action rifle


I don't own a Glock and have no plan to buy one, but I wouldn't mind winning one. Part of me wants a 10mm just to be able to say I own one. Most of my semi-auto guns are 9mm, though I do have a Ruger SR1911 in .45; I don't own a .40 model. Having a .357 Sig would be neat but I'd rather that in a SIG model.

IF I (or you) won, which model should I (you) get?

EDIT: Forgot to say, I have a CCW and nightstand gun, so this would probably be strictly 'range toy'.

I picked 17/19. I have a gen2 17, but i wouldn't be against another 17

Does 1 ticket allow you each day entry or is it 1 ticket per day?

My issue with a full size is that we're so gimped on rounds, and sometimes it costs more to buy a restricted-round mag than a stock. Though I did buy an M&P 2.0 fullsize this year (and love it).

I didnt necessarily need $2000 worth of glocks in the same size

But when I got a relatively small one (for a glock) and a very large one, I can warrant buying it. whatever helps me sleep at night

The 19 but I would immediately send it out to be rebuilt. New trigger, barrel, lose the finger grooves and change the grip angle. Oh yeah add some decent stippling. Asside from that it would be perfect.

I voted for the the 10mm pistol. I have a Buddy of mine down here who just got the Glock 40 M.O.S. he had ordered in at the LGS. That friggin' gun is massive. I can't wait to shoot that G40. I'm not a real Glock-Head, although I do own a G19-G4, and really like it. I don't have a particular love or hate for the 10mm round, so why not.

Originally I was going to have all separate choices (each model listed) but I didn't want that many choices. Shrug. I should have made the final poll choice be "Sell it and buy something else".

I got a buddy that has a G40 Long slide, the thing has the recoil of a 22. Im not kidding. it is a very, very recoil friendly gun. Im seriously thinking of trading in my G22 for the 40. Absolutely love that gun

Just out of curiosity. Why a 17 vs a 19? Are anyone's hands here so big that their pinkie dangles on the 19? Either way you are limited to 10. So what is it? Sight radius? It's only a half inch difference. You'll shoot the same at self defense ranges of about 25 yards of less.

If $50/ticket isn't high enough for you, there was a poster at the Camden Gun Club the other day advertising a gun raffle from Ducks Unlimited - $100/ticket (max 150 sold) for a chance at a Barrett .50 BMG rifle (with scope).. looked like a bolt-action.

I own a 34 for competition and fun but I'd love a G19 completely stock as a home defense/carry gun so that's what I picked.

It doesn't specify, but I wouldn't mind a gen 5 Glock 17 or 19. That being said, I already own three Glocks; 17, 19 and 23...all gen 3.

I dunno, most of the YT celebrities I watch are kinda 'meh' on the Gen5..

None of the paperwork I received says how you get your prize. Usually these gun raffles say what FFL it'll be sent to; maybe they just send you a check. If they do I can't guarantee I'll actually get a Glock..

I've always been interested in the SIG .357 round, since the Secret Service loves it. But I'd prefer to get it in a SIG pistol.

Too bad Glock doesn't make a .50 cal Glock.. (Although..... GUNCRAFTER 50 GI® CONVERSION SYSTEM for GLOCK® | Brownells )

No, like the last line says, aside from this forum no one I know IRL would want to spend that kind of money.

If you follow the link there is a form to print out and send in a check. You can try to pick certain ticket numbers if you wish, they will send you your tickets. I did that last year and no issues, and they were very helpful via e-mail.
