Golden trout in PA, any advice on catching one?

My son is having a bit of a tough time in 10 grade nothing terrible just normal shit but he asked my wife today if we could take him to PA in an attempt to catch a golden trout. I looked today and they stock 3.2 million trout and 14,000 are golden trout so I get the odds are against him.
I have never fished in PA and I’m wondering if anyone here has any advice, knows where they put in the golden trout, or even just a nice trout stream to visit. I’m in WNY also the closer the better but I don’t mind traveling. My wife and I are going to ohiopyle campground soon and we may take him back there if we like it enough. Yes I will fish there to get a taste of it but it’s for our anniversary so the main goal of the trip isn’t fishing.

Dont know about Pa but in NY you can check the DEC web site and see where and when the trout are stocked. When targeting stocked trout its best to get there soon after the truck dumps them. Not just fishermen but any local wildlife are quick to take a meal. Stocked trout come from trout farms where they spend their lives swimming in circles in a tank. When they hit whatever open water they are dumped in they continue swimming in circles, making them easy prey. I met a truck down the road from me stocking the creek. He told me he makes stops and will often see raccoons watching him, like the sound of his truck is the dinner bell.

That’s crazy. So I did a bit of research on PA stocking and instead of doing it once or twice per year like NYS does they do it all season long. PA a seems to have a much better stocking plan and the fish seem to survive better but that’s from a few videos and PA fish stocking web site.
NYS seems to stock out and take streams but PA does a put, grow, and take system where they stock a lot of fingerlings and plan for them to love and grow. The golden trout it seems people stalk them because too can see them like a goldfish so not sure how many will be around in fall. Just looking to out a smile on the kids face and spend a great weekend with him.

Power bait/salmon eggs should work well on stockies. Or anything that resembles the pellets they are fed when being raised at the fish farms.

Interesting they look a lot like brookies and seem to be native to the Sierra Nevadas and have a non native range in the Rockies. I’d fish for them like brook trout. They will probably be stocked in streams that run cool all year with clean water for any chance of survival.

It seems like this is what PA does regularly and they do not do a lot of our and take like NYS does but that was just from a quick search. I was more looking to know if anyone knew where they put them. I’m pretty well versed in trout fish and been doing it for 30 years. I’m no expert by any means and plenty are far better at it than I am. I like to drift worms and use panther Martins. I found it odd that so many recommended using a rapala to catch trout. I know they will but I don’t use them in streams but maybe I should be.
