Good luck in the mornig hunters

Up until yesterday I had not taken a deer with a modern weapon in over forty years. The gun is an awesome hunting weapon, light rugged and easy to maneuver around with. It is certainly a different perspective when seeing the animal. With my home made archery and muzzleloading equipment, after getting in close enough and making the decision to go for it, you still have that doubt, after all the practice and hard work, can I make the shot. With my modern gun, of course I still had to make the shot but Technology bolstered my confidence that it would not be a problem. It was just as exciting, I enjoyed the hunt, and am now torn, I really want to use it again, and my muzzleloaders call out to me, but alas, I still have tags for both, A win win If I ever heard one.
Would I recommend this type of rifle for hunting even though it might scare the fudd's to death? Absolutely, I Never take counsel in another mans fears, They are the types that were probably scared when 03's and Mausers started showing up in the game fields. Especially you older guys, you can hunt all day with this thing and its no more burdensome than wearing an extra layer of cloths.

Well my dad had a buck and doe in the plot at 8am opening morning, he didn't get a shot for some reason.

We just had this discussion around the lunch table today. Don't you consider a food plot "baiting"? After all, your purposely placing something they like out there and then just wait in a blind for them to show and pop em. Doesn't seem very challenging.

Short answer, no.
I hunt over cornfields, in oak mast, alfalfa fields, what's the difference? My property is surrounded by agriculture and woods with everything a deer needs. I plant a couple small food plots the deer may or may not come.

I built that blind for my dad who is 84 and just can't get around like he used to. He can pull in my driveway and be in it in 5 minutes, stay comfortable while still enjoying the outdoors. It's not as automatic as the naysayers think.

dub, once the adoption is complete and you start work on my stand, I'd appreciate it if you kept these thoughts in mind.

An ergonomic swivel captain's chair with reclining back would be great so I don't strain my neck looking out the side windows.

Electric and cable are a must, of course. And good insulation, too. WiFi would be a nice option so I don't burn a lot of data.

Baseboard heaters on 3 sides will work nicely. And don't feel like you have to go overboard on the flat screen, I can make do with a 28".

That is a sweet blind you built for your pops
I thought about using a sleeper off a wrecked tractor for the same purpose. This year I'm taking refuge in a bombed out old camper that the previous owners left on the property my mother just bought, it keeps me out of the wind and rain. For the most part. I'd like to build something better for next year. I got to looking around in that camper and the propane furnace is still in it! I'll be putting that to use lol. My feet have been freezing so I finally dug out my old Sorel Glaciers. Looks like this will be the last year wearing them. Who'd have thought I'd only get 20yrs out of them lol. Paid $150 for them in '98, they're only $160 now. Not bad after all these years.

Hell, I bet you're close to retirement if your dad is 84. You don't need any allowance. And we can negotiate on the rest.
