cant defend your self when you can't buy a gun at the local hardware store

out here in the west, MANY people carry a firearm.
I think in a modern urban area, these principles are more important than in the country.

In urban areas threats can come at you faster and from a lot more places so you need to be on your game. The principals apply equally no matter where you are.

There are a fair number of 4 legged predators that are far better at ambush than most of the 2 legged variety.
I watched and I enjoyed the video posted. Not going to tear it up, or down. Good and solid information.
For most people, a lot of the info will never come into a normal persons life. While METT-TC is a good tool for a mission, may not be all that solid in the world of everyday civilians.
Lots of talking in this video, most is good and accurate, but I would like to sum up the video in this way:
No matter who you are and no matter where you are located, always know who and what is around you. Going to and from work, pay attention and ensure you are not being followed. If you are, do not lead them to your home. Like stated in the video, learn more than one or two ways to get to where you go on a regular basis. This is a good skill not only to deal with dangers, but also road closures and off weather patterns.
Fully understand the capabilities and limitations of your vehicle. Learn what the auto you drive can and cannot do. Not all are built as a good get away car. It is amazing what some cars can actually do. Amazing.
If you carry a firearm, practice drawing that gun while in your vehicle. If it is a difficult task to get the gun out of the holster while driving, figure out a good place to store the gun while driving; all the while being able to access the firearm.
I am a fan of trying to stay gray and stay out of bad situations while living my normal life. I will not stop on the East side of Buffalo late at night to get gas or a drink. Hell, I try not to go to areas like that period.
I mentioned this in another thread; pay very close attention to all peoples that are around you. Use what you know. Categorize all persons that are in your area. Use what ever criteria you think is needed and necessary. This is some of mine:
Many different things fall into my criteria.
What are they driving?
What are they wearing?
How many are there?
Do they look out of place?
How are they looking around?
Do they look like they are looking for trouble?
Sometimes, their hair color.
Sometimes, their skin color.
Do they look like a junkie, crackhead or homeless person?
Sometimes, their hairstyle.
My list is rather extensive, depends on where I am located.
One of the most important things to remember, IMO, is ensure you have the willingness to protect yourself and your loved ones against all that will do you harm.
Your car can be a weapon, weaponize the vehicle if needed. You are not an Army, you are an individual. Regardless of how tough and skilled as you think you are; you are NOT John Wick. Do not be afraid to runaway.
