It appears Al Hoffman is only generous with the ilk of John McCain, Jeb and GW Bush . He did give some money to Romney and already extorted / witheld from Rubio. The GOP often needs to have the more principled and less funded candidates win the primaries anyway. FUAH. According to the NY Times Al Hoffman donated one million dollars in the 2016 campaign season and the NYT confirmed 99% of that went to Jeb Bush. He was a token donor to Scott and Rubio (less than 1% for them to share). Fake news headline and FUAH anyway.
