I saw a video,I'll see if I can find it again and link it if I can.It was a slow motion vid showing the barrel on the older model whipping when fired, which they claim is the reason for the vertical stringing.The barrel moved a lot.Then it showed a vid with the Accu-strut and the barrel was stable.This problem was rectified with one of the later series,forget when exactly but may have been the 580 series.

They are well loved by native Alaskans. Usually riding on atvs and horses as a quick grab and shoot gun. They like them on Caribou and wolves etc. They don't ruin meat and are reliable in the harsh conditions.

The Mini-14's are a real hot item and in high demand given the current political environment. If you find a new one for $1000, grab it !!
I've been watching on Gunbroker, the last two NIB stainless models sold for over $1600. One was a model 5802 and one was a 5817.

Still no pics.But I did get to shoot some longer distances out on the farm.I was using a small silhouette target 12"X18" at 50, 100 and 150 yds.Didnt have a rest so I shot off hand and laying prone.Out of 110 shots total,6 headshots missed left and right all the rest were in the zone.Not a nail driver by any means but more than adequate as a defensive weapon.Using 4 different types of ammo,42gr 55gr 62 gr and some steel casings,fmj,green tip armor piercing and soft points the gun ate it all and didnt have a hiccup.

Bought a BN 584 Series before the madness started, back in March. My first ever Mini 14. Haven't shot it much yet, but here's what I can tell you from the little I did:
VERY Loud
Good accuracy with open sights at 50 & 100yds
Kicks empties into the next county
Little to no recoil
100% reliability with 223 & 556 ammo

I have read about that being a problem.Mine isnt too bad.It throws them up and forward,only about 10-15 ft or so.I also read that there are ways to adjust the gas so they dont chuck the shells too far.I think mine may have had that done.

You can buy an adjustable gas block that allows you to fine tune the amount of gas being used to cycle the action, I have read that it can also improve accuracy.

They also make gas reduction bushings to use with non adjustable,or stock gas blocks.
