I will double up on the G19.

If it doesnt feel well in your hand.. try a Glock 17 or 45 (or 34) they all have the same grip length but the hump is in a different location and could make all the difference..

I used to carry a G19 thought I loved it, then realize I really dont like how it feels but my G17 was great.

People conceal carry HK VP9 all day and will tell people to get them over a G19... the VP9 is the size of the G45 (19 slide, 17 grip)

Hell my G17 is roughly the same size in the grip (overall height) as my old P-07 and people carry those all the time as well

The 92 can always (and should. I mean SHOULD) be swapped over to a G model

Non G-model variant Berettas have seen nearly 2 decades of combat (between OIF, OEF and all the other military actions we've been involved in since 2001). There is nothing wrong with the frame-mounted safety...as long as you're trained up on how to use the Beretta platform.

With that said, the newest M9A3 offers a canted safety lever (to help alleviate inadvertent activation). But I think the whole safety issue with the Beretta is vastly overblown, mostly within the civilian and LE communities, who've had little to no experience actually using them in deadly confrontations.

With that said, there are G-model conversions available for nearly all variations of the M9 and commercial version (92/96). It is a fabulous and reliable pistol, with build-quality that is 2nd to none. Chrome lined barrel (a rarity within the pistol market) makes cleaning a breeze. The walther-based action is smooth and lends itself to accuracy. Biggest hurdle to overcome is the transition from DA to SA after the 1st shot. I think that issue is mostly addressed by training and, IMHO, I like having a somewhat heavier trigger pull for that 1st shot, especially for real-life self defense scenarios....you cannot take a bullet back once you send it down range, and that DA pull requires a deliberate decision/action on the operator's part.

Other big issue with the Beretta 92 and M9: the thick grips. The 92x and M9A3 largely mitigate that issue with the Vertec-style grips.

Manual safeties on DA guns are stupid, who gives a fuck if the military has been using them.. just like grip safeties even on 1911s are stupid,

DA guns dont need thumb safeties. 92 should all be G models

My Pa got an M&P EZ. Haven’t had any range time with it yet. But! I almost always say go for the one that fits you. If it clicks with you, you’ll be more effective with something even if it has fewer features. The Springfield xd was that way for me. Grip was just right, it pointed well, balanced right for me, and the trigger always broke exactly where I wanted it to. Those are all such subjective items that it makes recommending something really hard.

Good luck finding anything right now. I’m ready to buy a few things right this second but they are not available. Nothing exotic. Basic stuff. Glocks and Sigs. Even had a personal FFL friend of a friend try to get me something and he is unable to order from manufacturers or distributors.

Hell we are even having trouble finding 9mm. I kinda regret not having reloading equipment anymore. At least before this my only regret was that without it I’d never shoot MOA again with my Marlin.
