Got my pistol permit, how do I get my pistol?

What are the steps to get my pistol and get it on my permit? I'm in Tompkins County.

That depends on what county you are in.

In most of upstate you go to a gun shop and find a pistol you want. You buy it and the shop keeper will give you a recipt with the necessary information.

You take that to your county clerk and have the gun added to your permit.

Then you can go back to the shop and pick up your gun.

It is slightly simpler in a couple counties, and more complex in others.

That is a very fair deal right there. A new 43X will run about $540ish with tax and this comes with about $200+ in extras.

The IRS has a "paperwork reduction act", New York State has a " Safe Act" and I live in "Freeville" NY. I'm sure you see the connection and the irony all around.

If you do them in person yes for the most part. I mail mine in because it’s such a pain in the ass. Some counties still make you wait if you go in person but most of those are by NYC.
