PORTLAND, Ore — As many in the community wonder what it will take to the end the violence, Oregon Governor Kate Brown maintains that she is not calling in the National Guard to Portland.

Gov. Brown said specifically on Friday that the National Guard is not trained as law enforcement, so it is up to law enforcement to help end this.

Looks like the people of Portland are screwed.

I can't remember what political hack it was but there reason for not allowing the National Guard to help is there not trained for this like are Police are ...

I took that reason as no shit ... the Guard won't stand down like your Officers are doing ..

It's a tough call, one side of me says, F it, if they don't want the police to protect them and would rather let rioters burn and pillage, then let them have what they are asking for. The other side is I'm sure there are people who want no part of it who are stuck or can't reasonably leave (ie. good luck selling your house in the COVID economy in a place of mass rioting like Portland) and it's wrong to wish ill on people who are screwed and want their police to be able to stop it but the shitty govt. officials they didn't vote for are bending them over dry.
