If non-citizens can request asylum for no reason whatsoever, then a persecuted student/swimming team participant should certainly be able to request asylum in a (relatively) free state.

Here is what could happen to those athletes, personal blowback; e.g., professors grading them harder, student groups passing non-binding resolutions decrying the swimmers as "haters," being treated like social pariahs on campus, professors being unwilling to write letters of recommendation, etc., it could get ugly depending how liberal/activist their campus is.

Shame on Nixon for not sparing North Vietnam the bombs that should have been dropped on Woodstock in August 1969, we could have saved this country from a lot of future marxist-brainwashers.

If this whole thing has to do with LGBTQ-RSTUVWXYZ rights then Gov. Asshole is looking at this all wrong...he should be encouraging them to go! After all aren't most swimmers gay (remember Greg Louganus [is it just a coincidence that his name has the word anus in it...but I digress])? Gov. Asshole would be forcing NC to acknowledge them for what they are. (If you are, or ever have been on a swim team, understand I'm kidding! so keep the hate to yourself).
These kids should go public with as much media coverage as they can denouncing the travel ban and the Asshole Gov.
