Con Edison is proposing another massive rate hike that would make the average gas and energy bill cost $154 more per month than it did just five years ago, according to available data. Con Ed customers would pay $1,848 more per year than they paid in 2020 after the rate hike.
And the company blames energy mandates imposed by the New York state government, led by Gov. Kathy Hochul, for the hikes.

We're on National Grid and our Bill went from ~$200. to about $325. and 50% of it is "Delivery Charges" and fees/taxes imposed by the State...NY NEEDS a DOGE, but the Democrats in control would NEVER allow it.

I'm on National Grid too, my Delivery Charge is always quite a bit higher than the Supply Charge.

Besides that, Hochul's an asshole, and the Green New Hoax is bullshit...

I'm barely home and my electricity bill is stupid high for what I use. The kWh makes sense with how much I use, but the delivery charges and extras they throw on top is outright extortion. Basically I'm paying more for taxes/tariffs/delivery than what I'm using.

As I sit back and write this, I think about all the LED light bulbs, highly efficient appliances and what not in my house, and my bill is more than what it should be. I thought by doing all of this, my bill would be lower than it was.

All tomfuckery.

I am so glad that Trump got rid of the EV charger bullshit. Just jacks the prices up of electric. The power grid can't support it and electricity should be used for what it was intended for, not for driving around.

NYS politicians are full of shit. Their in bed with Hochul. Con Ed is right about her energy mandates. This is what's behind it....... According to New York State law, electric companies are required to ensure that 70% of the electricity they provide to customers comes from renewable sources by 2030, effectively forcing them to buy enough renewable energy credits (RECs) to meet this target, whether by directly generating renewable energy themselves or by purchasing RECs from other producers on the market; failing to meet this requirement could result in penalties or other compliance measures.

Also a part of this. Ever see all the ads about. If you live in upstate NY. You can get into solar now cheap, etc, etc. What that's getting at is. If you don't go solar now. Or don't want solar at all. You will have an insanely high electric bill in 2030-2032. That alot of people won't be able to afford. And that will go for the rest of NYS too.

Their trying like hell to meet the deadline. If it ain't 2030. It could be 2031 or 2032.
