IDK anything about Mallard ducks, (any ducks lol) but this morning about 7:30am two males and three females came in, what a fight and mating. Big ruckus in water for like 10-15 minutes.

Not being a water fowl hunter with all the rules and regs... I had to look up what ya call male, female LOL.. (Mallard Duck Information. From fall to spring, breeding male mallards, also known as “drakes,” will sport a remarkable green iridescent plumage on their heads with a white band around their necks. Female mallard ducks, also known as “hens,” have less dynamic mottled brown to tan plumage.)
years ago while Turkey hunting a bird that looked like a huge red headed wood pecker flew in and landed in a creek, acted mean and fast moving on water, made all kinds of screeching, screaming noises, wonder if that was a black duck? I know for sure what I seen was indeed a type of duck though, not one I ever seen before or again. Seem to not have the usual duck bill mouth, it was more predator style looking LOL.
