I'm not very political but I know our current Governor needs to go. I've been checking the alternative options and I'm surprised there isn't much discussion or mention about Larry Sharpe here. I'm just curious if it's because members here haven't heard of him, don't think he has a shot so don't bother considering him or just disagree with everything else he has to say. He seems to be the only candidate pro 2nd openly expressing disgust in the "SAFE" act and talking about how it can be repealed. Just wondering what the consensus was around here.

Split the vote = 4 more years of Andy + as a bonus unSafeAct II. People would have better luck with wet dreams in the cigar bar. Molinaro may not have the war chest Andy does, Sharpe has two nickels. The objective is to divide democrats on the issues, not us. Sharpe may appeal to some but he does not have a strategic advantage over Andy.

We have to unite behind one candidate and hope the blue side divides itself. Sort of like how Perot helped give us Clinton. It's about kicking Cuomo out of Albany.

He is a candidate, he says whatever he needs to say to get his campaign off the ground. I will only look at the record of actual accomplishments. Short of that, I am sticking to above mentioned reasoning.

I don't need to. I figured out the best way to proceed in a situation where there are no good options. As repugnant as Cuomo is, if he is re-elected he is less likely than others to push through more gun laws.

I hate to say this cause I'm not typically an ahole but you are either ignorant to think Cuomo won't try and take gun rights away totally (as he has already tried) or you are a Cuomo Troll. I hope Noone else in this state thinks this way or we really are screwed...

We are effected by laws on the books, rhetoric means nothing. Promises mean nothing. Partisan scare tactics mean nothing. People who show up on gun forums around election time mean nothing.

Cuomo wants to be President. He thinks passing the unSafe law will help him achieve that goal. He continues to cite his gun control efforts as an indication that he's doing a good job. He continues to try to appeal to the radical wing of the Democratic party.

There is no doubt in my mind Cuomo will double down and ram through more gun control laws if: 1) he thinks it will pass, and 2) he thinks it will net him more votes.

You are absolutely right, I didn't come here to push Sharpe on anyone. I came here about 7 months ago with a few questions about the pistol permit process. My dislike for Cuomo lies a bit deeper then 2nd amendment, that's just part of it. It is more because thanks to him I have to look for another job because he is having mine shut down and also because of him and his dirty cronies I now have a huge gas-fired generation plant pretty much in my backyard. I only came here to see where the pro 2nd guys stood, not argue with someone who lives on the basis "It can't get any worse" because trust me it can and I'm living it. Hope he doesn't drop a plant in your backyard because he needs to put up 2 more to compinsate for the entergy plant when it shuts down for good.

With only 2% of likely voters, Larry Sharpe doesn't stand a snowball's chance of getting elected. At this point I can't believe anyone Is still taking him seriously. He will only assure monkeyface's reelection by siphoning off precious votes. He can't repeal unSAFE on his own - he'll never get the RINOs in Albany to support that.

While I agree with @Mosinitis that the NY GOP are useless and sold us out, I believe the only chance we have to slow the erosion of our rights is to support Molinaro. Monkeyface has said he will screw NY gun owners further - he will use it as a springboard for a POTUS run.

Sharpe has a history running for office and in his previous campaigns he was not pro guns. In fact, just a few months ago he said he wished guns did not exist. I have heard him say this. Was he being honest a several months ago or is he being honest now. Maybe he had a come to Jesus revelation, but inconsistent positions from politicians make me distrust them even when they preach what I want to hear. Look all you want, but a tiger does not quickly change their stripes. I previously supplied links on Sharpe but we keep getting newbies here touting Sharpe as a 2A savior without even searching this forum's posts. He is not a 2A savior for NYS. He is, however, much better than FUAC even though Sharpe is an NYC libertarian. It would be safe to characterize Sharpe as being a mini-me Massachusetts gov Bill Weld RINO / Libertarian on most issues. I have seen some say that Weld's advisors are working with Sharpe and that would make sense. I have seen some with Sharpe.
