Gun buy "backs"

I've got 3 POS hand guns that aren't safe to shoot and aren't worth stripping any (more) parts. Any body know of an up coming buy back? I really can't think of a better way of saying FUAC than to get state or local money and then spending it at a local gun shop! I'd prefer Rochester area but I guess Buffalo or Syracuse area could work.

I'm going to assume the 3 handguns are listed on your license.
From my experience, the buy backs program does not accept any legal handguns that are registered/ listed on your handgun license.
They ( buy-back agents) specifically asked if the handgun was registered to me before accepting it (they will run the serial#.)
The buy back is done anonymously. They do NOT ask you for your info (name/address, etc). You will NOT get a receipt.

Around here, you need a receipt to show the license bureau in order to remove a handgun from your license.

Stay away from these things. It isn’t worth the trouble for a few crummy dollars. Sell your parts to Numrich arms, get a receipt and be done.

Yea but how are you fucking over Cuomo by getting a $25 gift card from out tax money? All you are doing is creating an increase in use of that money therefore during budgeting they can keep the same amount or more earmarked for things like gun buy backs.

Sorry you are to cheap to fix your guns or to lazy to try and sell them to someone who may want a project gun

my good friends wife has a old revolver ( real gun ) it's just a desk ornament she picked up

It doesn't matter. We all know they'll be touting the numbers regardless of what they are and will continue these things regardless of their efficacy.

Do you know how budgets work? Yea there is money earmarked for these, and if they dont spend all that money, next budget meeting the bean counters look at it and say well last budget you said you needed $100,000 but you only used $73,000 so we are only going to give you $73,000 this time.

And no there is no NICS these are all anonymous, how do you think a gun buy back works, it's all dont as dont ask dont tell, they just take the gun in to police custody and hand you a Visa or walmart type gift card. There is no background check?

As for the money budgeted for this waste of government overreach, i know the allotments may change based on usage but that's neither here nor there. Buybacks are going to be staged regardless of the budgeted amount each time, so why not capitalize on it? It's not like if the OP doesn't do this, everybody else is going to stay home too. He's a drop in the bucket. Get what you can from them fuckers.

Regardless of the monetary bit, I wouldn’t go to a buyback simply because it legitimizes them, even if only to their organizers and other such dregs of society.

If nobody showed up, they might have a harder time crowing about how successfully their operation is at making someone somewhere more safe.

Why not post up what you have in the for sale section? One mans junk being another’s treasure and all that...

Sell them for what? The OP stated himself that they're unsafe to shoot and not even worth parts anymore. So he should try to get what, $20 out of each gun when he can take an appreciable amount of money that's going to go to someone else anyway? I say good for him. Our thoughts on the issue obviously don't mesh, and likely neither of our viewpoints are 100% on point so no sense getting bent over nothing. Just saying if i was in the OP's shoes, I'd do the same thing with a clear conscience.

As to what the guns are one is a cheap FIE .25acp that is just plain junk.
#2 Is a Bryco .380 that fires and is complete it has an online value of about $125 or so. It's appeals to the first time hand gun purchaser BUT it has a quirk, the trigger needs to be pulled before disassembly. That is UNSAFE and is why they went bankrupt, I don't want this to end up in the hands of someone that thinks it's unloaded because they dropped the mag! Or would you be ok with me selling this to your niece or nephew?
#3 I kind of hate to get rid of but I've tried to repair it for why to long, Astra M80 in .45acp, the gun feels at home in my hand. But the slide "nose piece" cracked years ago (common) and I've tried finding a new slide (no go) and a used. One replacement was worse than mine another was starting to crack and the third has the bolt cut for 9mm and doesn't fit well at all. So please tell me how many hundreds of dollars should I spend on this?
