Gun buyback scheduled in Newburgh

NEWBURGH – The latest gun buyback program in the City of Newburgh has been set for Saturday, June 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.


The program is designed to allow people to safely surrender guns and receive a Walmart gift card of up to $150 depending upon the type of gun surrendered.

Those turning in an operable assault weapon will receive a $150 gift card. Those surrendering operable handguns, or modified rifles or shotguns, will receive gift cards of $100. Those surrendering rifles, shotguns, antique or non-working firearms will receive $25 gift cards.

Was at the ny gun show doing a purchase and a guy ~55yrs. asked the cop what to do to get ride of the long guns his dad had. Cop said to turn them into his local cop shop, waited then said or take them to a ffl.
Soo, our tax dollars buy cops guns for personal consumption. Yet we pay for the limited use of the amendment that protects all the amendments.

Judging from history only the few truly clueless turn in anything worth buying.

The rest is either trash or stolen. And an FFL can’t very well take a gun anonymously no questions asked like these operations.

or those interested here are the final numbers- 32 guns turned in (of which several were bb or pellet guns) and 11 guns rescued. Here is the official breakdown of what was saved- Albion Gun Shop I took 6 centerfire rifles 2 handguns and 2 rimfire rifles. I also saved 1 muzzle loader.

What constitutes a "modified" rifle or shotgun? So if I take my $40 single shot and cut the barrel down, I can turn it in for $100? Deal! That will make a good down payment towards a good one.
