I did a search for gun clubs on this site and I was surprised that there wasn't a forum for it. So, I set up this survey just to see if there's any interest.
Think he means clubs that have ranges. Up this way there are a lot of fish and game clubs and sportsman clubs that are nothing more than organizations with ranges. What do you mean when you say Gun club?
Something that has a little of everything for those that are interested in firearms. Land to hunt on, outdoor ranges for rifle, skeet. Maybe a place where you can stay over a weekend for events etc. What do you mean when you say Gun club?
This. We have over 500 members and those who bitch the most do the least. They want cheap dues but dont want to pay anyone for services.Everything is done by volunteers. Only one member has the expertise in my club. Therefore not much is on it since he is maxxed out on lots of stuff for the club. That's true if most clubs I suspect.
Ok Hex, I'll take a look at the Ranges, Training & Competition section. Thanks for the feedback. We do have a Ranges, Training & Competition forum section. We'd generally expect to see such things there. Other aspects might fit into the Hunting related section I suppose.
As we typically say when forum sections are suggested for very specific things, we've found, over quite a few years of staffing/running other forums, that sub-dividing every little thing into separate sections just makes for a lot of barely used little sections and potentially keeps users from seeing broader content . If we had few thousand more members then we might think about sub-dividing very specific things further, but it's probably not in the cards at the moment.
Still, we appreciate suggestions and I'd never want to discourage people making them. If enough people really wanted it, we'd give it a shot.

That was me back in the late 90’s when my son was going through scouts. I ran the entire pack until he graduated. When he finished , so did I.Except for a couple of dedicated fathers and two mom’s Very few other parents volunteered to help out. These stories about clubs and finding reliable volunteers to run them reminds me of what my father told me about the Boy Scouts. He started a troop in the 80s and had the same problem. I didn't know about it until I was talking to my dad recently. As a kid I didn't know what was going on behind the scenes.
Many parents wouldn't get involved with their own kids. My dad said the parents would drop them off and never volunteer for anything. When my dad would go to the parents to ask that they help with transportation for camping trips and other events, they always had an excuse. The same 4 or 5 fathers would be there to help out, but the rest of the parents were never around.
I guess some things never change. We went through that exact same thing back in the early 80's when our Sons were involved in Scouting. I was an Asst Scout Master, and Mrs. MO was the Treasurer. We had another Fella who was the Scout Master, and that was it. Whenever we took the Boys camping, it was always the SM, and me, and if we were really lucky an additional Dad. It took quite a bit of work to keep things going, and as soon as my Sons were done, so were we.That was me back in the late 90’s when my son was going through scouts.
