How is it confiscation? He shouldn't have had it to begin with. Somehow it slipped through the cracks, and wasn't his fault, which is why he's. not facing charges. Now if you want to discuss unjust laws, that's another topic. Nothing wrong here and no need for buzz words and. getting people excited that won't read the letter or are unable to comprehend it.

I don't doubt it, Suffolk county is terribly unfriendly to gun owners and the Second Amendment.
Sending someone a letter and threatening arrest or jail time for failure turn over your own property is absolutely confiscation.

Multiple FFL’s throughout NY are selling these weapons arguing it does not fall into the definition of a rifle, SBR, or pistol. Since NY law is silent on these other weapons it is presumed to be legal like a mossberg shockwave is. The reason the SCPD knows about them is because the owner and his son were arrested on weapons charges.

The Accreditation is something that many departments try to get through the State. Once the department gets this, they put it on everything.
Not really a bid thing.
As for the gun, tell them that you sold it out of state.

My guess is that the anti gun zealot Suffolk County DA is looking to collect a good amount of them surrendered by the buyers for his press conference photo op, he still hasn’t done one for arresting the gun store owner and his son.
If they actually have proof you purchased the firearm, wouldn't this then add a further charge of "selling illegal guns"?
Better to not say anything to them, unless it is through your lawyer.

Regardless the title matches what’s happening. They are asking for your property without compensation AKA confiscation.
People were lead to believe, and rightly so, that these firearms are exempted from the safe act. Safe act specifies riffle, pistol, shotgun these meet neither. I can’t say I’m surprised nys is saying these are a no go but I see the other side as well.
If need be bring the gun to your FFL held on, consignment, until things clear up.
I did this with mine when I got a dwi years ago. When I got them back the cop said it was a good move, because they were, destroying, guns in an average of less than a year. I had a one year probationary period. He did wonder why no one purchased any of them, I said me too at five thousand per each and laughed.

Don't understand the other letter shown either, that due to the pending charges and advice if counsel they're not at liberty to discuss? Really? But advising seeking counsel? So when I find I didn't need counsel do I then sue Russo Karl W for compensation based upon errant information...?
