How soft was that primer ?

I've manually set off a primer in an otherwise empty case before, and it takes some serious effort. Like you tap gently with a hammer and punch and nothing happens, so you have to hit it harder the second time...

Imagine using primers that soft in a tube magazine rifle.

Recoil from the first shot and you get a chain fire like a badly loaded cap and ball revolver.

That's why we don't use pointy bullets in tube magazines.

30-30 & 35 Rem would be much better at range with pointy bullets.
