It still happens. I couple years ago I bought a freshly imported crate of "Albanian" SKS. They might have been used in Albania at one point but they were very much Chinese type 56.

Blocking imports will make American gun makers lazy and stupid with no competition. It works the same in any sector in any country.

This isn't Trump's doing. It is entirely a decision made by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). I would imagine if Trump did something to try and reverse it, the media would be all over him with more bull crap about Trump and more connections to the Russians.

Russian VEPRs just got added to the sanctions list...
