Out-of-state gun owners filed a federal lawsuit Monday in the U.S. District Court in Albany arguing that the state’s ban on concealed carry permits for non-New Yorkers violates their Second Amendment rights.

The lawsuit, filed by the Gun Owners of America and the Gun Owners Foundation, lists Carl Higbie — a Connecticut resident who hosts a show on Newsmax, a conservative outlet — alongside two Massachusetts men as plaintiffs.

I’m kind of bummed that GOA is throwing so much weight behind this, but doesn’t seem to be doing much heavy lifting regarding beating down ammo BGCs, the CCIA, etc. Sure, gun rights/access for non-prohibited people is a goal, but this isn’t the direction I was personally hoping for right now. I’m a little selfish. But someone had to pursue this case, so it might as well be someone with the power to do it. I’m conflicted a bit. I’m used to NYS gov losing, then taking it out on the peasants. I see more floggings in our future.

What might be even better is if those individuals get granted the right to carry in NYS, - not just NYS, BUT in NYC as well! If they were to win the right to carry throughout NYS, I would think we just might be able to knock out the NYC crap.

I though out of State Residents could obtain NY Permits!? Wasn't there a case a while back and NY lost... But NY accepting out of State and Reciprocity laws I believe has some standing for some time. So if they State admits you could apply for THEIR permit as a non-resident the lawsuit ends... And the State maintains control, and deniability!

Can somone tell me how anyone gets help from GOA or any firearm group to bring charges against local government. What is the process?

I quit GOA years ago as they were always fighting issues in other States as, in my opinion, the safe act was a huge issue to challenged.

You can only apply for a permit in a county you live or work in.

You can't even apply for an out of county permit in NYS. If you could nearly all permits would be issued by the handful of counties that don't suck.

The second article is interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you are a PA resident you could now apply for a NYS permit in a county bordering ny? That's a wonderful can of worms sincerely. I have both so not much of a difference for me, but that could open the floodgates for PA residents to obtain NYS permits. That's great until Hiel Hochul begins the process of eliminating the current Sheriff in that county.

Even with the liberal courts I can't believe WE still have to deal with this horseshit. NYC residents that have carry permits can go anywhere in the state but permits from outside NYC are not honored there. Even if the permits are issued by county its a NEW YORK PISTOL PERMIT. NYC is part of NY.

If I had the money to pay for defense then a suit I'd carry down there and then sue the shit of them if they tried to charge me.

Where did the Bruen decision come from? Yea, NY. What major national decisions have come out of Cali? Nothing. Yea, they have Judge Benitez give them the occasional, very localized, win.
