Gun shop owners struggle during ammo shortage

This is almost like the rest of America...

Seems like nearly all types of business are hurting....

Not how it works, that's not how the supply chain works. These gunstores don't have a year's or a month's worth of ammo sitting in stock.
Whatever supply they had they sold and its not going to cover expenses indefinitely meanwhile they aren't able to restock at a normal rate.
I bet that for the local stores ammo revenues are down overall. Not to mention the loss of customers they can no longer service who will turn elsewhere.

There isn't a major supply interruption. This is all about a demand explosion.

The industry is selling every bit as much ammo as they ever have. The demand is just for a lot more.

So, if one store isn’t able to get as much ammo as they used to, it's because someone else is selling it all first.

With the market the way it is they should *all* be charging *a lot* more. People will bitch about "price gouging" but, that's how the market allocates the resources. The guy willing to pay more has demonstrated a greater need and should get the product.

Expensive beats empty shelves every time. You can choose to buy or not if the price is too high. If the shelf is empty you have lost the ability to choose.

So, I wish they would get over the "price gouging" stigma and start charging just enough that they can keep some inventory on hand.

A box of 9mm FMJ is simply worth a lot more today than it was a year ago. Pretending it isn’t just leads to shortages and "rolling blackouts".
