Gun Store Warning Label Law

Legislator Ruth Walter has drafted a proposed local law requiring all gun dealers in Westchester County to post signage intended to warn customers of the dangers ownership of a gun poses near the point of sale.

The purpose of the bill is, “To better inform potential buyers of firearms in Westchester County of the dangers of owning a gun in the home, which can lead to accidental discharge, preventable suicide, unintended death of a child, other household members, or death during a domestic dispute.”

They should post a sign right next to it explaining the pros of guns, such as keeping an armed populace against tyranny, preventing someone who tries to break into your home from killing your family before the cops arrive, preventing a rape from occurring, or even feeding your family while using it to hunt for big game.

Right up there with the sign I once saw on a gas pump that it was dangerous to swallow gasoline. Thank goodness I saw that sign as I was a tad parched as I was filling up.
