Gunbroker +\- of using them

After reading another thread on downsizing and gunbroker was mentioned that it has +\- when using I thought I’d ask.
I’ve never used gunbroker before. What are the +\- of using them?
Any tips you can offer?

I have one rifle to sell and it would go faster there than here.

The cons are: You have to pay their fees and deal with bidders. If you have a non paying bidder it is a pain in the ass, not to mention a disgruntled buyer.

the plus side is you will most likely get more than you think you can locally.

The 15 minute rule works well when some heavy weights want an item and it turns into a battle for something each wants. The idea at times, there are certain guns, people will pay for and this allows them to win if they like to.

Bad side non rated buyers bid up auctions and then disappear. They need a system where a person news to earn that they are valid with some buy it now purchases and not some buddy of the seller to send in a few fake bids.

They did not fight back when their app was removed from the app store by the commies.

Never sold anything there but did buy a few long ago, no problems other than one gun was packaged like shit but it wasn't damaged so all good. How's that for a definite possible maybe?

Be careful as a gun seller, they will charge you listing fees. Things like view count, highlighted descriptions, favorable search result.
Then you’ll get another bill for the actual sale of your firearm…

I have 67 feedbacks on gunbroker, only two problems, one item had a problem that wasn’t disclosed, and one buyer who did not read the auction listing. It used to be better than it is now, I believe more fraud is present now, and with having to pay tax, shipping, and ffl fees there is downward pressure on realized auction prices. If you have something of special collector value you get a higher selling price, but for more mundane offerings I don’t see much of an upside. List things here and if not sold in a reasonable time list on other forums, or gunbroker.

I have bought and sold a couple guns using GB. Transactions went okay. I'd use them as a last resort. What I'd try before that: list here, list at your local gun clubs, list in any specialized forums (like sig or glock or pick your favorite brand), list on forums for the sport (trap or uspsa or bench rest, or...). Often the forums will not let you list a for sale ad without a minumum of meaningful posts, but that's probably fair.

I've sold things there and done well but that was several years ago when all you had to pay was their "commission".

Listing fees used to be based on "extras" that you could choose a la carte. You didn't have to take them if you didn't want to. Pay for them if you wanted them.

I've bought from there. Any issues were of my own doing. Mostly not asking enough questions. If a seller would not answer my questions or requests for additional pictures or information, I wouldn't bid.

They started charging sales tax recently. That is a big negative that’s going to pressure selling prices downward. Buyers don’t want to pay sales tax on top of shipping and FFL fees.

DONE - Saiga 308 Rifle

SOLD I bought this rifle from @meketrefe 2 years ago. When I bought it, it was unfired and in its original box. It now has less than 50 rounds through it. Has the box, paperwork and cleaning kit. Also comes with 10 - 10 round mags and another one that had trouble feeding(has blue tape over it)...

Yea I got unpleasantly surprised on that on a recent $1100 purchase. Definiltey changes the value proposition of using them as a buyer.
