Have you had a 10-round magazine permanently attached to an AR? Im kinda dubious about these kits to attach on our own. Thinking having it done by a gunsmith would be best.

How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?
Short of actually welding a metal mag in, that's the closest I can come up with to being permanent.
Anything else regardless of expoy in a nut hole, loctite on threads, all that is easily removed with tools.
Most people have made their peace that by installing a simple magazine lock, that they are in compliance with the law. It follows the spirit of the law by preventing magazines from readily being removed and inserted. You have affixed a magazine to the rifle.
Anything above and beyond attaching a simple mag lock, is no more permanent than just a mag lock is on its own.
But at the end of the day it's all comfort level, if you want to pay a gunsmith to do something, hey it's your money.

Gunsmiths don’t have any magic potions to fix AR Mags.

Reading the “Law” all the scary additional features (except grenade launcher) become legal to include treaded barrel. Charging handle even has Manual Bolt written on it.
Since the law doesn't actually say what is required other than "removeable magazine", with everything else just being made-up bullshit from heil hochul's gestapo, simple mag-locks, or even just a $0.20 nut from the local hardware store is sufficient. As long as you cannot remove the mag.
I don't think the actual law even mentions tools.
So everyone in the State is playing Russian Roulette with their "fixed-mag" ARs and could be one butt-plugged leftist trooper away from a bad time.
The law sucks and everyone knows it.
I think most people just make their peace with, "if I can show im trying to follow the law, will a DA risk prosecuting me when I am trying to follow the law"
I think 0.0% chance a DA will open that can of worms on the safe act if you have a mag lock on your rifle. But everyone has to make their own decisions.

Put on a thordsen or nylar stock.
Or just buy a mini 14.
Or skip all the semi auto issues and get a lever action.
Even better still, leave ny. Not everyone can do that.

And unless you're an undercover nys trooper, you've left a bunch of evidence that you may or may not be considering doing something that may or may not be legal.
