H&K USP Impulse Buy

After my last impulse buy of the KaBa Special .25ACP, I went back. I have wanted an H&K USP for years because of Rainbow 6, Metal Gear Solid and Jack Bauer. I was hoping to the gun gods that I did not see one in the used case, in .40 (bought enough 9s recently, and @Willjr75 told me that .45 gives you cooties or something), for a good price. The gun gods failed.

She's loved, but comparing the holster wear to the barrel wear, she was carried far more than she was shot. For a gun made in 1998, she's damn purdy:

So here is why it was an impulse buy: H&K USP .40 Compact, V1, 2 mags, original box, original manual, Meprolight Night Sites (with still a good, albiet not factory bright glow), for $399 out the door.

BTW, reading that manual, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was really well written and I actually learned stuff. No, not pictures on how to load and fire and disassemble, but actually about the design and such. I always read them, but this was really cool.

Negatives:
Again, Glock and Walther have a simpler takedown.
I hate safeties, but at least this one is in the right direction (looking at you Beretta.)
That recoil buffer thing seems like being different for the sake of being different.


Positives:
I love that SA trigger. Honestly one of the best SA polymer triggers I've seen. Even *gulp* competing to the P99s?
The fact that the decocker is OPTIONAL. Putting it on safe does NOT decock it. (Beretta <.<)
The paddle mag release. You know, the thing the Walthers of this time had, but for some reason got rid of on newer models. (Walther <.<)

Also, this is a very strange "compact."

The P99c is G26 size. As are most "compact" pistols noways. I, personally, think the P99 (not compact) and G19 are "regular size", the G17 and Beretta and G20 are "oversized", and the LCP and other 380s are "subcompact. This pistol is G19 sized, but labeled "compact." Horsepucks. This has a full 3 finger grip. The P99c is a "compact" pistol.
