Hard Shell Case

Can any of you Ruger Mark III (or IV) Hunter owners recommend a decent hard shell case? My range bag is already stuffed. Wrapping my Mk IV in a towel and shoving it in the bag isn't making things any better.

Go to your local Walmart or sporting goods store and pick up a plastic case for 12 bucks. Make sure it has loops for locks that way you can use it for air travel.

A padded clam shell case for under $20 will do you well. Especially if you use a scope on the hunter model.

Or just get the foam and don't cut it and then you can stick any gun into it

Have you done this? I love Pelican cases, and own some, but I always get skeptical about the larger rifle cases from them that I want, because I want it to be a "long gun" case for the high price. Not a "this SPECIFIC long gun case" for the price.

Yeah I got the convoluted foam that is sold separately so it allows a little gap to provide room for the guns but still nestles them snugly. I can carry a broken apart clays gun, my AR, anything.

3 Pieces of Pelican 1700 1701 replacement foam Convoluted top & bottom + solid | eBay

Use the convoluted top and bottom, fill extra space with normal foam. Or drugs since the guns will distract them.

Some people get one Pelican case and swap out the foam inserts depending on the rifle.

May be Time for a larger range bag. Call up Ruger they may still sell the hard case the MK series guns use to come in. Unless traveling on a plane, these hard cases are way to big for range trips unless you plan on carrying multiple guns in them.
