That's what people need to realize... take care of your possessions and property, try to fix and mend what you've got, and don't buy name brand everything. The Biden administration will rename inflation the new health care plan and take credit for the weight loss.
Back in the 60s and 70s I grew up watching my dad strike at the steel plant, go through layoffs and ultimately a plant closing. As younger teens my brother and I would work summers and all vacations at my uncle's farm. We considered lean living the norm.
It honestly does not take a lot of money to eat well. Honestly I spend about $80 a week on groceries and I’m eating 160-200 grams of protein per day and 2650 calories daily. I don’t eat bad either. I eat all the fresh fruit I want and often freeze the leftovers.
You can buy the small tub of pineapple for $5 or you can buy an entire pineapple for $2 and put in the time and cut it up. It’s up to them to choose wisely. Stuff like that.
I can agree with a lot of the comments here. I can also agree that it sounds like many are too quick to judge. But, it is the internet.
One thing sticks out: talking about people having Netflix, Disney, Paramount, Amazon, etc... Amazon is different in that it is much more than just streaming videos, and it can be a net savings, not cost.
For example, I buy a lot of my staple items through Amazon Subscribe & Save. One of my easiest examples is dog food. I have four dogs, so I go through about 80 pounds a month (give or take). It actually costs me $10/mo less to have Amazon deliver the package to my door than it would for me to drive to Wal-mart and buy it (links go to product pages, note subscribe and save gives a 10% discount). (Also also, using my Amazon prime card gives me an additional 5% cash back on that purchase).
Well, $10/month x 12 months = prime membership paid for itself. And that's just one item I save money on - my S&S list has about 2 dozen items on it.
Yeah, it sounds like I'm working for Bezos here. Not my intent. Just pointing out that at least one item here being called a luxury might in some cases actually be a savings.
