Hello all! FNG from Westchester

Hello everyone. Lived here in NY most of my life. Grew up shooting, camping, fishing and hunting here. Love the shooting sports. I have participated in many types of pistol, rifle, shotgun matches in the past, mostly through the 90's. Yes I am old. lol I am pretty much on the back end now of raising a family and my coaching duties are complete, so I am getting back to my roots. I have been a member of a few clubs in the past in my area. I decided to join this forum because of the diverse group of topics covered. I am certainly behind the curve when it comes to the new firearm tech and firearm policies of the state. Hopefully I will soon retire and move to a more freedom friendly state. Til then I want to reconnect and find new people who have a passion for what I enjoy. Thanks for having me.

In New Rochelle there was a Square Circle gun club located where Costco is now. Old NR police range. It had 24 hr access and was a great place to tune up for IPSC or IDPA marches.

NWRA Northern Westchester Rifle Association. DCM matches as well as IPSC and IDPA. West Point shoots twice a year. It was a fun club. Not sure they are around anymore.

Ardsley range off Ardsley rd by the sprain. It shut down years ago after a development went near it. A resident made a claim that they were hit my bullet fragments. Given the location of both places, it would defy all we know about physics.

Been to the Coin park as well as Mount Vernon.

Currently a member of Black Rock fish and game club.

NWRA is still around. They host matches about once a month at Blue Mountain. I'm going to try to hit a few matches at Black Rock this season (never been there), they are starting to host USPSA starting in April. Might see you there.

Nice to hear NWRA is still around. I use to know a few of the range officers at Blue Mountain back in the day.

I haven't looked into my clubs steel group yet although I see them out there from time to time. Costs extra to join but it would be worth. I was going to inquire about the matches they run there as well. Its very possible I will attend in the spring.

I warned them time and time again to place cameras. Many club members said they would pay extra but they kept saying they had a 99 year lease and Con Ed wouldn't break it. I knew better....we all did. So it was no surprise when it happened. A couple of the residence in the development would complain weekly to the Greenburgh police Dept. I had heard that the metal turned over for analysis was in fact not any part of a projectile. It took a long time for that to come out though. So not sure if it is true. Anyway Con Ed wasn't getting involved with a political/ideological issue and ended the lease.
It was cheap and local to me. My kids learned to shoot there. I have great memories of the place, the BBQ's and of the great people I met. I miss it.

I remember when anyone fired anything above say a .357 the bat phone would ring in the office and gerard would come running out. Great times there. Another political NY loss.
