Hello Everyone... New to NYGF

Just wanted to say hello, and intro myself. My name is Marty, I'm from lower NY, and a relatively new gun owner. I'm a prepper by nature and home and self defense were the areas that I lacked for the inevitable moment preppers prep for... so my gun purchase have revolved around my preps, I own a Henry AR7 survival rifle, Winchester sxp shadow defender 20 gauge and my most recent purchase was the Ruger PC 9 take down model... I dont have my pistol permit yet, but will be applying in the next few weeks. Looking forward to some great discussions, receiving great advice from like minded individuals, and reading up on what everyone else is doing in the NY gun world. Thank you and have a great day.

I do, which LGS do you prefer... I've had mixed experiences with buying my 3 guns from 3 different shops... trying to find a home base shop... you know atmosphere, prices, etc... also I do like RISE, but are there any other shooting ranges not far from the Rockland area??? Thanks again!!!

Good guys in Nanuet is the best LGS around, Alex is awesome. Scott and Irene at Rise are awesome people, great place to go. I hit Blueline in Elmsford after a shitty day on my way home(I work in Yonkers), just to blow off steam, but the people there and prices are not so great.

I also go to Davis shooting in Goshen to zero my rifles to 100 yards, and the people and prices are decent. Been to Blue mountain in Cortland once to try to enjoy shooting longer distances outdoors, but the people there were so ridiculous I will never go back.

When you want to buy a new handgun, Guns for hire in Jersey is the best place to go. They have a ridiculous selection of rental pistols, and you can bring an unlicensed person with you to shoot, if you want to get someone else into it.

Hey thanks for the info, I'll have to give GG another shot... I went there looking for the Henry and they quoted me about 15 percent higher than I got it for at Davis in Sloatsburg. I do enjoy RISE a great deal, clean, friendly staff and great group of people go there... I go about 1x every 2 weeks to just get outta the house or to blow off some steam...
