Hello everyone!
I am a "novice" gun enthusiast. What started this fire was my first trip down to "Gun for Hire". I have been there multiple times as well as some other ranges in the NJ area. I have since fell in love with guns and now i am currently looking to assemble my own. I am definitely interested in the AR-15 platform, and have done extensive reading and watching (youtube) about it. Now from what i understand, my rifle can have a normal stock/pistol grip as long as the magazine is permanently attached. Or if I want a detachable mag, it needs to have that funky Thordsen stock/grip, is this information correct? Also, where would I start? I know of someone who also lives in the Queens County area that went out to Suffolk county and purchased a lower/stock/pistol grip combo. He then had to assemble the lower. Is this a viable, "legal" option? My reasoning for this build is for range shooting. I think it would be awesome to bring my own rifle to a range had throw some lead down it. Better than the worn out rifles at the ranges i go to.
