Hello everyone! My name is joe. New to the forum here. From as the title says Westchester county. Had my pistol permit about 10 years ago. Had it revoked and recently reapplied (turned in paperwork on June 6th) and hopefully waiting on an approval.

Well it was originally surrendered for safe keeping and when the time for renewal cane up they just signed off as revoked. Long story but everyone I have talked to about it including lawyers and instructor and the person who took in my paperwork said they think I’m ok but I’m taking it with a grain of salt until I get good news

My goal ultimately is to acquire my unrestricted carry. Owning an explosives business and having my atf licenseing as well as all my NY licneseing I’m guessing that would be reason beyond the average citizen to be granted a full carry being a public safety issue I would think. I’m a lightning rod for terrosism and criminals who would want to get there hands on a few hundred or even a few thousand pounds of explosives.

Not to discourage you right out of the gate. Westchester is terrible with full carry.

I'd say move a couple miles north, we are a very 2A friendly county.

We thought about it but we(myslef,wife and children) are extremely happy with the school system the kids are in. That really is the only thing stopping us from moving north. The kids have to come before everything else in my eyes. Otherwise we would

That's our primary reason for staying here as well, keeping the kids in the same school. And our school district is excellent.

Westchester unrestricted carry will be tough though, I have a lot of training certifications, including my NRA certified handgun instructor and range safety officer certifications, clean record, but was still denied twice for unrestricted carry.

Although your work situation may be just enough, I certainly encourage you to try.
