I recently built a basic M4 replica of my rifle from the Army using an 80% lower.
Thinking it would be cool to have my old serial number on it, I checked my records and managed to find the serials of the rifles of brought on my first and second deployments. I can’t decide which to put on the rifle!
Bosnia was my first deployment straight out of airborne school. I reported to my unit in September and deployed in early December. While I was there, I was under a legit air raid which ended when our F-15’s downed a MiG right over us (and a second as it fled). I was also “pinned down” in an outside the wire house for 72 hours while we awaited the Cav QRF after a UN political decision sparked attacks on peacekeeping troops. This serial I vaguely remember.
Kosovo I deployed to 3 times, the first being the initial deployment of troops after the bombing campaign (these are the orders I found the number on). We were never shot at, but we were involved in a few physical dustups while apprehending wanted persons from the war. Most of my time was spent practicing QRF for the green beret teams living off the base and conducting electronic surveillance. I turned 21 while I was there, got to drink one German beer my NCO “smuggled” back from his R&R.
Help me decide.
